The MSc Geology program at the University of Mysore is a two-year course divided into four semesters. Admission is based on a merit list that combines half of the entrance exam marks, scored out of 50, with degree marks. The program features highly qualified PhD professors who guide students through seminars and group projects. Each class, consisting of about 40 students, is supported by more than five teachers. The fee structure is Rs. 57,000 for the first year and Rs. 54,000 for the second year, which includes access to excellent facilities like labs, seminar halls, and a museum.
Although the institution does not provide placements, it facilitates internships, specifically requesting GSI Hyderabad to accept students. Scholarships of Rs. 3,000 are available to students from backward castes after completing their master's degree, provided they score at least 55% in their undergraduate studies. The initial registration fee is Rs. 5,000, and there is an annual semester fee of Rs. 39,000 along with a Rs. 1,000 donation for the geological association.
