Depending on your year, you’ll be allotted one of these hostels at NIT Hamirpur-

AGH- AGH is allotted to first and second year girls. This hostel has very spacious rooms. The rooms are really good in comparison to those at boys’ hostels. Each room is shared by three girls and divided into three sections, with curtains at the entrance. You’ll get two attached balconies, which you’ll share with the side rooms. The corridors are spacious and wide. AGH is located 1 km downhill from the academic block. Thus, the walk back and forth is quite exhausting. First year girls have to be back by 6 pm. In the 2nd year, this timing is extended to 8 pm.

PGH- You’ll be allotted PGH from 3rd year of your degree. Its rooms are very small. Monkeys and lizards are occasional visitors. Final year students, though not all, are allotted single rooms. It is comparatively closer to the academic block (closer by mere 100 meters). You won’t have to climb uphill as before. The hostel timing for 3rd and 4th year girls remains 8 pm.

Mrs. Awasthi is a bit strict as a warden, Mrs. Kaur is nice and helpful. You will be allotted either of them. The mess food is quite decent in both the girls’ hostels, much better than the boys’ hostels.

The Kailash Boys hostel for freshers of NIT Hamirpur, has various blocks. The old ones are- A, B, C, D, and the new one is E. The old blocks have a good LAN network facility. The LAN network can be turned into WiFi network using cmd. E block has a decent Wi-Fi facility, however, there are some rooms where the network connectivity may be poor.

But overall, block E is better. This is because it has bigger, well-maintained newer rooms. Each of its rooms has 3 fans, 1 per bed.

Overall, facility-wise, E block is better. On the other hand, the older blocks provide better internet connectivity. You can easily shift to an older block later on, by submitting an application.

Hostel life at NIT Hamirpur is similar to that of any other college. Since my brother recently passed out from NIT Hamirpur, I have a better idea of this.

The students change their hostel rooms after every year so your roommates also change 4 times.
The serene surrounding areas make the campus a peaceful place to stay. You will always be in awe of the beauty of the campus.
The hostel has rigid restrictions on in-timing. During the initial semester girls and boys are expected to reach the hostel quite early. From the second semester, there are a few relaxations, especially for the boys.
There are indoor game facilities like table tennis and badminton courts. There is also a pool table in the Neelkanth Boys Hostel for third-year boys. Also, there is a Common TV room where students gather to watch matches together.
Students can be seen walking around at night or enjoying the sunrise at OAT.
Many talented students portray their skills at night performing for everyone. Celebrations like birthdays, festivals, and the World Cup become much better with friends.
There are enough eateries for both girls and boys. Girls have canteens in their hostels while boys have Nescafe which runs till 2 am. There are many eating spots in and around the campus like Juice bar, Nescafe, Amul, HPMC shop, Ekta, Junction, etc
Students occasionally plan trips to nearby areas like Shimla, Kullu-Manali, Dharamshala, Treks, and many more.
The best part of hostel life is indeed the last-minute group studies a day before your exams.

My cousin recently enrolled in NIT Hamirpur and definitely loves the state-of-the-art facilities. It provides and its modern infrastructure. It has excellent facilities in its 320 acres area which includes a computer centre, a library with over 100,000 books, an auditorium, a guest house, sports grounds, solar heaters, hostels, gym, and of course- lifts.

NIT Hamirpur has a lift facility in the departments which offer UG programs. Some more lifts have been added in some of the newly built hostels which are for students in the second year and beyond, much Iike NIT Nagpur has a lift in the new academic block and the new hostel.

Another point here, the New Hostels are for girls and boys in the first year, only.

the hostel facility is not soo good as i wished . wifi is not working properly, food is good in some hostels but in some not room altoment in 1st yer is randomly and then from other room is aloted according to the CGPI
