HPU UG Selection Process
HPU admission 2026 to UG program is strictly merit-based. There is no entrance test for BA, B.Sc., or B.Com. A centralised merit list is published college-wise after the application window closes.
- Class 12 marks are the sole basis for merit. Sports quota (5%) is only available to Himachali domicile students
- If the total Class 12 marks are also the same, then the younger student (lower age) will be admitted first.
- 85% of the seats are reserved for Himachal Pradesh domicile candidates, while the remaining 15% seats are open to candidates from other states.
- Reserved category candidates need a valid certificate issued by a competent authority at the time of admission.

HPU MBA Eligibility & Selection Process
HPU Shimla MBA eligibility requires a bachelor's degree in any discipline with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates). The upper age limit is 26 years for male candidates and 28 years for female candidates as of July 1, 2026.
Admission is based on HPU-MAT, followed by a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The final merit list is prepared using the candidate's HPU-MAT score, GD and PI performance, and academic record.
