PEC is one of the top govt institutes in Punjab. even the lower branches like Civil and Chemical close around 92–93 percentile. CSE is 98+. at 60 percentile (rough rank ~3,50,000+) you're outside the range for any branch at PEC.

what you CAN realistically target with 60 percentile:

• NITs in lower demand branches via later rounds (NIT Mizoram, NIT Sikkim, NIT Manipur etc.)
• state govt colleges via your state counseling (OJEE, KCET, MHT-CET etc. — cutoffs there are very different)
• private colleges like Chitkara, Chandigarh University, LPU etc.

key thing — check your state-specific counseling portal. don't limit yourself to JoSAA only at 60 percentile, that's where most people miss out on decent options. state counseling has way more seats at this rank.

• Being from Chandigarh, there might be a bias, but I personally prefer Chandigarh for its lush, clean, and green environment. This may not matter to everyone! :P
• DTU has a larger batch size, meaning PEC CS students will face less competition during placements. DTU allows students from IT, MNC, ECE, and SE to sit for placements.
• Fees at PEC are slightly lower than at DTU.
• Faculty quality is not something either college can particularly boast about. Some students from Chandigarh might prefer PEC to stay closer to family.

On the other hand, PEC Chandigarh has a good curriculum aligned with NEP2020 and solid internship opportunities, particularly with tech giants, but the placement scene seems more competitive. Personally, I would lean towards MNNIT Allahabad for its strong placement record and lively campus life, but if you're inclined towards electronics and want to be in a tech-centric environment, PEC could be a better fit. Ultimately, it depends on your career interests and which field excites you more.

MNNIT Allahabad offers a solid B.Tech in Biotechnology with strong placement rates and diverse extracurricular activities, but the faculty can be hit or miss. Firstly, it's important to note that Automotive Engineering is closely related to Mechanical Engineering, with about 80 percent of the syllabus being similar. Additionally, we study 5 to 6 subjects related to Production and Industrial Engineering. During placements, around 70 percent of the companies that recruit for Mechanical Engineering also consider Automotive Engineering students. This can be seen as a drawback since our branch is often perceived as similar to Mechanical Engineering due to the name change. DTU offers ample research opportunities and co-curricular activities. I would suggest you consider your confidence in scoring better in your chosen field. If you believe you can excel, then go for it; otherwise, it might be worth exploring other options.

Placements of this college is better than many tier 2 NITs . Students are eligible for placement in 8th semester. If we talk about the top companies visiting PEC, these are Apple, Google, Microsoft, American Express, McKinsey, JP Morgan etc.
