Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) was formerly known as Bhagalpur University. Established in 1960, TMBU is sprawled over areas of 264 acres, this pedagogical university has 12 constituent colleges, 25 affiliated colleges Govt. funded, and 4 research institutes. The hardship of the teaching members and students has bagged ‘Grade B’ accreditation from NAAC. The university has a whole number of 130000 students in the UG curriculum and in the PG program, there are 6200 students.

The university provides various scholarships to the economically poor background students who hail from the reservation categories are eligible to get a scholarship if they secure a 75% in 10+2 level. Students coming from Minority communities are eligible to get a scholarship if they secure a 75% at 10+2 level. Students whose parents serve /have served in the military are eligible for a scholarship. Besides, the university sponsors a scholarship under the sports quota and for physically challenged students.

- Library: The Central Library of the institute has a huge stock of books. The library consists of a total number of 154928 books, 8050 theses, 323 journals, 485 magazines, and 10233 books in the reference section. The library includes an e-resource section too.
- Hostel: The university provides an accommodation facility together with modern amenities, wifi facility, mess, and several others. There are 4 boys’ hostels and 3 girls’ hostels. The hostel fee for boys’ is INR 1.50K - INR 2.40K and the fee for girls’ is INR 2.40K.
- Sports: The university has excellent sports facilities with a 3500 sq. ft. area. The university annually conducts Inter College Tournaments, Sports Convocation, Participation in Inter ‘Varsity Matches, and a lot more programs to encourage the students.
