University of Bath admissions run through a single dominant September intake with a smaller January window limited to School of Management taught masters, and the university expects Indian applicants to clear a Class XII average of 75 to 90 percent for undergraduate entry and a Bachelor’s honours degree at 2:1 (around 60 percent) for most postgraduate courses.

  • Final overseas deadline for the September 2026 primary intake is 31 July 2026 for MSc (non School of Management) and MBA applications.
  • PG base tuition sits between £25,000 (₹31.87 Lakhs) and £38,950 (₹49.65 Lakhs) per year, plus a £60 (₹7,649) application fee for School of Management MSc programmes (no fee for other MSc, MBA or PhD).
  • UG entry: Class XII at 75 to 90 percent, and PG entry Bachelor’s 2:1 (around 60 percent), with IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in each band) as the standard English floor.
  • Estimated overall acceptance rate sits at around 12 to 15 percent, with popular Indian-applicant courses in Engineering and School of Management running below that band.

Popular programmes for Indian students include MSc Business Analytics, MSc Finance, MSc Computer Science and the full-time MBA, and applicant sentiment on University of Bath tends to praise the strong industry links and the compact one-year masters format over the historic city setting.

Admission status: Closing Soon. The September 2026 primary intake is in its final overseas window, closing 31 July 2026 for MSc (non School of Management) and MBA applications. The £60 (₹7,649) application fee applies to School of Management MSc programmes. No fee applies for other MSc, MBA or PhD. September 2026 School of Management overseas applications closed on 30 June 2026, and the next School of Management overseas window is 12 December 2026 for the limited January 2027 intake. Full September 2027 applications open in early September 2026.

University of Bath Eligibility for Indian Students

Eligibility is set at the qualification level, with each course free to raise the floor. The academic requirements below apply to Indian nationals holding CBSE, ISC or a recognised State board qualification, per the official Bath India entry requirements page. English requirements are grouped into three categories (A, B and C) depending on how language-heavy the course is.

  • UG general entry: Class XII average of 75 to 90 percent across best four subjects (CBSE / ISC).
  • UG competitive courses (Engineering, Computer Science, Architecture): Class XII average of 85 to 90 percent, with 85 percent or above in Mathematics and Physics.
  • PG Taught (standard): Bachelor’s (Honours) with a final result equivalent to a UK 2:1, or around 60 percent from a recognised Indian university.
  • PG Taught (competitive): Bachelor’s with a UK first-class equivalent, or around 70 percent for MSc Finance, MSc Marketing and quantitative masters.
  • PG Research (PhD): A first-class Bachelor’s or a Master’s with a research component.

The University of Bath accepts IELTS Academic (with One Skill Retake), TOEFL iBT (including Home Edition), PTE Academic (test-centre only, not the online version), Cambridge C1 Advanced (CAE), Cambridge C2 Proficiency (CPE), Trinity College London ISE and LanguageCert International ESOL / Academic. Duolingo English Test is accepted only for pre-sessional English courses, not direct degree entry. Scores must be no more than 24 months old at course start.

University of Bath IELTS Waiver for Indian Students

Indian nationals can skip the English test altogether under a published country-specific waiver. You qualify if your Bachelor’s degree included at least 12 months of degree-level study at an institution where English was the sole medium of instruction, the degree was awarded no more than five years before your Bath start date, and your Class XII Core English marks meet the board-specific floor of 75 percent for CBSE and ISC, and up to 80 percent for some State boards. Upload your Class XII marksheet, university medium-of-instruction letter and degree transcript at application. The admissions team confirms the waiver alongside your offer decision. Applicants who have completed a full degree in the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, Ireland or New Zealand within the last two years are exempt automatically without needing the India route.

Insider note: The University of Bath India IELTS waiver window is unusually generous at five years (versus two for most nationalities), so Indian graduates returning to study after a work stint should still qualify. Get your medium-of-instruction letter on your alma mater’s official letterhead, signed by the Registrar. Bath rejects departmental letters.

University of Bath Undergraduate Programs

Undergraduate entry runs through UCAS institution code B16. Indian applicants apply with Class XII (CBSE, ISC or an accepted State board) and pay the standard UCAS application fee of £28.95 (₹3,691). UG base tuition for overseas students in 2026/27 falls between £20,445 (₹26.06 Lakhs) for the MArch Architecture first year and £32,000 (₹40.79 Lakhs) for Science, Engineering, Health and Psychology courses, with Humanities & Social Sciences at £25,400 (₹32.38 Lakhs) and Economics & Management at £28,650 (₹36.52 Lakhs).

Programme Duration Minimum Eligibility English Req. Min.
BSc Computer Science 3 years (4 with placement) Class XII with 90 percent+ overall and 90 percent in Mathematics IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in each)
BEng Mechanical Engineering 3 years (4 with placement) Class XII with 85 percent+ overall, 85 percent+ in Maths and Physics IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in each)
BSc Economics 3 years (4 with placement) Class XII with 85 percent+ overall and 85 percent in Mathematics IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in each)
BSc Management (School of Management) 3 years (4 with placement) Class XII with 80 to 85 percent+ overall IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in each)
BSc Psychology 3 years (4 with placement) Class XII with 85 percent+ overall IELTS 7.0 (6.5 in each)
MArch Architecture (5-year integrated) 5 years Class XII with 80 percent+ overall plus portfolio review IELTS 7.0 (7.0 in each)

Bath is competitive at UG level: for the most selective courses (Computer Science, Architecture, Economics) many Indian offer-holders present 90 percent+ in Class XII. The UCAS personal statement, subject-specific marks in Maths and Physics, and school predictions carry more weight than an aggregate that just clears the floor.

University of Bath MBA Admissions

The Bath Full-time MBA is a 12-month cohort programme starting in September 2026, delivered by the School of Management. It is a full-time only pathway. There is no part-time or executive variant. The tuition fee is £38,950 (₹49.65 Lakhs), with a range of merit awards and an early-application discount detailed on the Bath MBA course page.

University of Bath MBA Work Experience Rule

Applicants must show a minimum of three years of full-time, post-graduation work experience at the point of application, with clear evidence of career progression such as promotions, team leadership or budget ownership. A UK 2:1 Bachelor’s or international equivalent is required, though the School will assess candidates without a Bachelor’s degree if they can demonstrate substantial senior professional experience, an unusual open door for Indian applicants who took the CA, CS or CFA route in place of a formal undergraduate degree. GMAT is optional, and there is no application fee for the MBA.

University of Bath MBA Interview Format

Every shortlisted MBA candidate goes through a 30 to 40 minute interview, held either virtually or on campus, with a decision typically returned within seven working days. English language minimums are IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in each), PTE 69 (62 in each), or TOEFL iBT 100 (24 in each). Pre-sessional combined offers are available for candidates at IELTS 5.5 to 6.0. The overseas application deadline for the September 2026 intake is 31 July 2026.

Insider note: Bath is one of the few UK top-10 business schools that runs the MBA without a GMAT wall. That does not mean the standard is lower. The shortfall is picked up in the interview, where the panel probes for quantitative reasoning through case discussion. Indian candidates from non-finance backgrounds should still prep two or three commercial case walkthroughs before their slot.

University of Bath PhD Admissions

Doctoral study at University of Bath is offered across all four faculties, either as an advertised funded project or a self-proposed research route. Overseas applicants should apply at least three months before the intended start date (versus two months for Home applicants). PhDs at Bath typically start in October, February or April, with October the largest intake.

University of Bath PhD Timeline for Overseas Indian Applicants

Work backwards from your target start month: identify a supervisor and align on a proposal at least four to six months out, submit the formal application through the Bath doctoral portal three months out, and then allow four to six weeks for supervisory review, another four weeks for the offer decision, and the standard visa buffer. Bath expects a first-class Bachelor’s or a taught Masters with a research element (dissertation grade of 60 percent or above), plus proof of English at IELTS 7.0 (6.5 in each) for most humanities and social science programmes, and IELTS 6.5 (6.0 in each) for STEM disciplines. There is no application fee for PhD applications.

University of Bath PhD Funding for Indian Applicants

Funded routes for 2026/27 include the Teaching Assistant PhD Scholarship (currently offered in Computer Science and Chemistry) with a maintenance stipend matching the UKRI standard rate of £21,805 (₹27.80 Lakhs) per year from October 2026, plus tuition, and the Research with Impact PhD Scholarships, advertised with individual project deadlines from October each year. The Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship provides tuition-fee reductions for outstanding overseas applicants. For full funding details across faculties, see the funding for Indian students at University of Bath page.

Planning note: Bath’s PhD application is not gated by a deadline. The deadlines belong to the individual scholarships. If your target is the October 2026 intake with UKRI-equivalent funding, aim to send the formal application by mid-July 2026 so the supervisor has time to nominate you for scholarship rounds that close before the intake opens.

University of Bath Application Process

The University of Bath uses two separate application routes: UCAS for undergraduate courses (institution code B16) and the university’s own Bath online applications portal for taught postgraduate, MBA and PhD. School of Management masters use a dedicated section of the same portal. Both routes ask for direct upload of transcripts, English test evidence and supporting statements at submission.

  1. Create your account. Register on UCAS (UG) or the Bath postgraduate portal (PG). The PG registration takes around 20 minutes.
  2. Add your course. Select your programme, faculty and intake month. UG applicants pick up to five UCAS choices. PG applicants apply to one course at a time.
  3. Upload academic records. Class XII marksheet, degree transcript and grading scale, and if applicable your English test certificate.
  4. Pay the application fee. For School of Management MSc programmes, pay the £60 (₹7,649) application fee via the Bath online store before the file reaches the admissions team. UG applicants pay UCAS’s standard £28.95 (₹3,691). No fee applies to other MSc, MBA or PhD applications.
  5. Submit references. Provide an academic or professional referee’s contact. Bath emails them directly for the reference letter.
  6. Add your personal statement. A single 400 to 600 word statement explaining your motivation, alignment with the course and post-degree plans.
  7. Complete fee status and visa questions. Confirm your nationality, residence history and Student visa intention.
  8. Track your decision. Bath aims to return a decision within six weeks of receiving all supporting documents through the Application Tracker.
  9. Accept your offer and pay the deposit. Confirm within four weeks of the offer via the Application Tracker. Conditional offers need academic and English conditions met by 31 August 2026.
  10. Receive your CAS and apply for the visa. Bath issues the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies once you accept unconditionally, roughly six weeks before the course start.

Undergraduate applicants who miss the standard UCAS January deadline should look for the UCAS Extra window (late-February onwards for courses with places remaining). Bath does not run a distinct clearing operation for competitive courses, so a delayed UG application typically points to the following September cycle.

University of Bath Documents Required

Paperwork requirements are similar across UG, PG Taught and MBA routes, with two extra items for research applicants and a couple of India-specific artefacts most Indian offer-holders trip over. Everything is uploaded digitally at application. Certified translations are only needed if the original document is not in English.

  • Valid passport bio page (at least 18 months to expiry from course start).
  • Class XII marksheet and passing certificate (CBSE, ISC or State board) required for UG entry and for the India English waiver.
  • Bachelor’s degree transcript with year-wise semester marks, plus the awarding institution’s grading scale letter uploaded alongside.
  • Provisional or final Bachelor’s certificate (final by the conditions deadline of 31 August).
  • Medium-of-instruction letter from your undergraduate institution on official letterhead, signed by the Registrar (needed for the India English waiver).
  • English test score report (IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, Cambridge C1/C2, Trinity or LanguageCert) if you are not using the India waiver.
  • Personal statement (400 to 600 words) explaining course choice and post-degree plans.
  • One academic or professional reference contact (Bath approaches the referee directly).
  • Current CV covering education, work experience and any research, publications or portfolio links.
  • For the MBA: evidence of at least three years’ post-graduation work experience, including designation letters and salary slips.
  • For PhD: a research proposal (typically 1,500 to 2,500 words) and any prior publications or dissertation abstracts.
  • Passport-sized photograph in the specification set out on the Application Tracker (uploaded after offer acceptance for CAS purposes).

Certificates in Hindi, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali or other Indian languages need an authorised English translation attached to the original scan. Bath will not process an application where the marksheet is illegible or missing the grading key.

University of Bath Acceptance Rate

The University of Bath does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Applications-to-offers data compiled from prior UCAS filings and third-party admission trackers suggests an estimated 12 to 15 percent acceptance rate at aggregate level, with wide variation by course. For context on how Bath sits versus its comparators, check the ranking band on the University of Bath page.

University of Bath Selectivity by Programme

Selectivity clusters at three levels. The most competitive courses (MSc Business Analytics, MSc Finance, BSc Computer Science, BSc Economics and the MArch) routinely accept below 15 percent of overseas applicants and consistently receive several applications per place from India, China and South East Asia. Mid-tier taught masters (MSc Management, MSc Marketing, MSc Innovation and Technology Management) accept in the 20 to 25 percent band. Engineering and humanities PGs with narrower applicant pools sit slightly higher.

University of Bath Acceptance Trends for Indian Applicants

Indian applicants form one of Bath’s largest overseas cohorts and follow the broader competitive pattern. Historically, Indian offer-holders present strong Bachelor’s percentages (often 65 to 75 percent from tier-1 Indian universities) and either an IELTS band well above the floor or a clean India waiver. Applications that lean on the floor scores without a compensating strength (internships, publications, or a distinctive personal statement) see a higher rejection rate. Applying early in the September cycle (before December of the prior year) improves the odds noticeably for the School of Management masters.

Insider note: The number Indian applicants find most useful is not the aggregate acceptance rate but the offer rate for their target course. Ask the admissions team by email for offer-to-application ratios at your course level, since Bath’s admissions office typically shares these figures over email when asked.

United Kingdom Student Visa for University of Bath Indian Applicants

Indian nationals need the UK Student visa (Student Route, formerly Tier 4) to study any course longer than six months at the University of Bath. You can apply up to six months before your course start date from India, and the standard decision timeline for overseas applicants is three weeks. Applications need your Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from Bath, your English evidence, and a bank statement showing tuition plus a set living-cost figure held for at least 28 consecutive days.

Bath is outside London, so the maintenance requirement is £1,136 per month × up to 9 months = £10,224 (₹13.03 Lakhs) on top of the first year’s tuition as stated in your CAS. The application fee from 8 April 2026 is £558 (₹71,134) and the Immigration Health Surcharge is £776 (₹98,924) per year of your visa, paid upfront. For a 12-month masters plus a four-month buffer, that is typically £1,552 (₹1.98 Lakhs). Book your visa biometrics slot at a VFS Global centre within one to two weeks of receiving your CAS to keep the September arrival window comfortable.

2026 update: UK Home Office raised the maintenance requirement to £1,136 (₹1.45 Lakhs) per month outside London (from £1,023, or ₹1.30 Lakhs) with effect from 2 September 2025, and the Student visa fee rose to £558 (₹71,134) on 8 April 2026. Keep the higher figures in mind when you lock the fixed-deposit statement your bank issues for the financial-proof upload.

Tips for University of Bath Admissions

The following tips are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at University of Bath over the past three cycles, and address the friction points most commonly reported by offer-holders.

  • File early against course category, not the overseas deadline. Competitive School of Management MScs fill in December to February even though the overseas cutoff is 30 June.
  • Use the India IELTS waiver actively. Get your medium-of-instruction letter on university letterhead signed by the Registrar before you submit. A departmental letter will bounce.
  • For the MBA, prepare two case-based answers. Bath does not require GMAT, so your interview carries the quantitative-thinking probe.
  • UG applicants: bring subject-specific 85 percent+ scores. Class XII aggregate matters less than 85 to 90 percent in Maths and Physics for Engineering, CS and Economics.
  • Watch the £60 (₹7,649) School of Management fee gate. Your application will not be forwarded to the admissions team until the fee posts to the online store.
  • PhD applicants: lock supervisor sign-off first. Bath’s PhD offer decisions come after supervisor endorsement. Applying without a named supervisor slows the file by weeks.

University of Bath Admissions Checklist

The following steps cover what Indian applicants typically complete on a 10-month timeline for the September 2027 intake, working backwards from a target arrival in mid-September.

  • October to November 2026: Shortlist courses across School of Management and Engineering, confirm eligibility gaps and register for the online application portal.
  • By December 2026: Book IELTS or PTE if you are not using the India waiver. Scores typically come within two weeks.
  • December 2026 to January 2027: Request degree transcripts, grading scale letter and medium-of-instruction letter from your Indian university (allow four to six weeks).
  • By end January 2027: Submit School of Management applications with the £60 (₹7,649) fee paid. Submit other MSc, MBA and PhD applications free.
  • Within four weeks of your offer: Accept your place and pay any programme-specific deposit through the Application Tracker.
  • By mid-June 2027: Meet English and academic conditions, arrange a fixed deposit of at least £10,224 (₹13.03 Lakhs) held for 28 days for visa financial proof.
  • July 2027: Accept CAS from Bath, book VFS biometrics and file the Student visa with the £558 (₹71,134) fee and £1,552 (₹1.98 Lakhs) IHS.

University of Bath admissions reward Indian applicants who file early against the course-level filling rate rather than the calendar deadline, present strong subject-specific marks, and use the generous India IELTS waiver where they qualify. The September intake is where nearly every programme opens, so plan your English test, transcripts and financial proof against a July overseas cutoff each year.

Scholarship

  • I did not receive any scholarship. I am not sure about the number of scholarships each year. However, my uni gives out quite a lot of scholarships to MBA students.
  • One of my course mate got a scholarship of 10000 pounds under the great India scholarship.
  • Apart from this they have global leader scholarships. However, I am not aware of anyone who has been awarded this scholarship.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I got the School of Management Worldwide Scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to: Get an offer to study one of the Taught Postgraduate Master's courses in the School of Management for the 2022/23 school year, Say yes to the offer, Pay the deposit within the four-week time limit mentioned in the offer letter, Apply for the scholarship by the given deadlines, Use the right application form in the application tracker. Both UK and international students could apply for this scholarship if they were doing full-time MSc courses on campus.
  • The School of Management Worldwide Scholarship gave me £5,000. This came as a discount on my tuition fees.
  • Yes, a few of my classmates got scholarships too. The School of Management has different scholarship options to help students pay for their master's degrees.
  • Although I don’t have specific figures, I can say what I know based on the scholarship information from the university. The School of Management provides over 30 worldwide scholarships each worth up to GBP 5,000. There are also some other comparatively few scholarships available for high amounts, such as: Three Dean's Scholarships for Ambition, each covering 50% of the tuition fees, Seven MSc Anniversary Scholarships of GBP 10,000 each.

Overview

  • I applied to over 20 business schools in the UK.
  • The universities I got rejections from are as follows: University of Leeds, Aston Business School, Kingston University, University of Stirling, University of Liverpool, University of Glasgow. The rejection was mainly due to a lack of business or managerial experience in my CV. These universities mainly look for 3-5 years of managerial experience. I had roughly 4 years of experience (includes lead experience but not managerial).
  • I applied to these universities apart from the above: University of Bath, Lancaster University Management School, University of Strathclyde, Durham University, University of Birmingham, University of Sheffield, University of Nottingham, Loughborough University, Cardiff University, University of Surrey, Brunel Business school, Queen's University Belfast, Birmingham City University, Buckinghamshire New University, University of westminister, Hult business school, University of East Anglia, Bangor University, University of Sussex.
  • While most of the universities did not reply, I got offer letters from the following: University of Surrey, Brunel Business school, Lancaster University, Queen's University Belfast, University of Bath, Bangor University, Hult business school.
  • Here are the factors I considered while choosing Bath over others: QS ranking of the university, proximity to major cities like London, university reputation, extra-curricular activities, scholarship, no hard need to write GMAT, career prospects, multi-project suite and reviews from alumni.
  • Once applied and waited for 10 days, I got an email for the first round of interviews which was more of a culture fit interview, explaining my professional experience and intention to do an MBA. After a week I got selected for the second round which was with the career head, where they will assess if MBA is the right way and how they can help us achieve it. Got the conditional letter after two weeks or so. There was a video submission done to apply for a scholarship (optional).
  • If the candidate's professional experience suffices, they do not ask for a GMAT but an IELTS score of 7 or above is a must. It was very smooth and probably one of the fastest ones comparing to other universities.
  • September 2023 intake was the one I planned for. In the UK, there are generally 2 intakes: September and January, only 5-10% of all universities have Jan intake which is a selected list of good colleges.
  • I wanted to do an MBA to start my own business in the future. Due to rising competition in India, the best way for me to do this was through an international MBA. Overall, the timeline was spread out over 2 months. From the initial date of application, to the unconditional letter.

Scholarship

  • Yes, I received a scholarship called the Bath South Asia Outstanding Students with Potential which was 10K GBP. Eligible to apply if you are a student from South Asia.Yes, roughly 30-40% of all MBA students received a scholarship.
  • The scholarship has 3 divisions, 5K, 10K and 15K. The decision is made based on the video submitted combined with CV. Roughly 30% or more from MBA would receive this every year.

Overview

I chose this university based on its ranking in my field and based on how they had advertised their teaching and course curriculum. Overall, the experience has been decent with respect to academics, but not that great when it comes to marking for exams/ assignments.

Overview

The ranking of the university, the reviews from previous students, and the career prospects made me choose this university and the particular program. The overall experience of my study time at the University of Bath was top notch. Ever since the first day, my professors laid down a clear path of study and how the curriculum would progress. There were several social events to make friends at, which made it easy to make friends. The university hosted frequent career events to interact with recruiters, build connections and get to know more about the jobs. The university allowed us to choose the subjects and modules we wanted based on our interests and we were well informed about each module.  We also had the option to choose a practice track to gain real world knowledge by working with companies.

Scholarship

I didn’t receive or apply for any scholarship.

Overview

The overall experience was great and it really developed me a lot, in terms of way of thinking, positive mindset and how to create a good work culture and environment. The course gave me a lot of learning and some very good and big projects including team work and individual aspects of striking them. There were some challenges and problems too, but with the support of faculties and a good environment, I tackled everything and successfully completed everything with so much of excitement and experience.

Overview

To start a new life in a new country and pursue a career in Data Science. The program offers a 1 year placement for the MSc Data Science program which is basically a year long entry level role but it is competitive and you need to apply to secure a placement. The university is very well reputed and has a great CS department with amazing employment prospects and careers service team.

Overview

University of Bath is one of the best university in UK for Data Science with good ranking. The curriculum provided by the university is really good which covers almost every topic in data science. The deep learning and reinforcement learning modules would be very helpful and not included in most of the other universities. The course had 2years of course including placement which I thought would be beneficial for getting job in new country.

Scholarship

I got Academic Excellence scholarship from University of Bath which was £5,000. I had to write two essay for the scholarship.

Overview

The course modules were really interesting to me, especially since I had done similar subjects in my under graduation. With relevant topics in todays day and age , it was a step up from what I had learned and how I have to apply it in my work life as I begin working in my family business and look for new opportunities as and how I take over the business. In a post-covid world having these techniques to think and look at opportunities in different ways will help stand out from the crowd.
