Course Curriculum Overview

4

Well we live in a society and at times i've been curious about certain aspects of the society which are seemingly answered in a vague form thus my interest aroused to opt for the course and ofc the course is very pragmatic and applicable to real life , as there are methodologies and certain research process which makes it applicable and scientific .... this topic is kind of similar to the previous one thus the answer wont be long and ofc catering to the topic , the frequency of timings of class tests is quite neoteric and furthermore the course of BA SOCIOLOGY is well structured but there's always space for improvement I feel more practical exposure and fieldwork like opportunities in every semester and not just in the 4th year , more contemporary issues like AI and society could be ingrained , career guidance could be offered and a bit of interdisciplinary perspectives should be added which can provide broader perspectives , I think that would suffice the room for improvements

Internships Opportunities

4

well there are quite a many internship opportunities catering to different courses and skills req . but mostly which I've been a part of includes the Marketing , Content writing , research , you could even intern in volunteering , I've been a part of NDTV , Zomato Feeding INDIA and my friends too participated in the DECATHlon one well for the role you are intially an starter for them thus the junior one is assigned to you either in administrative or technical dept and the primary task to complete the task assigned to you by your supervisor . I'd say simply there are corporate interships where u can be assigned as marketing intern , research intern , the outcome and projects could be market research and analysis , working on business development strategies with a stipend varies between 10 - 15k . similarly there are journalistic internships in news channel like content writer , social media intern involving writing articles , managing social media campaigns or the most if ur experienced could be conducting interview , stipend is 5 - 10k usually , there are similarly like this DESIGN AND CREATIVE INTERNSHIP I.E vistaprint , adobe and ofc the easiest to get are the NGO and social interships in GOONJ or TEACH FOR INDIA . the tough ones to get for which u need lot of skills are TECHNOLOGY and IT interships which require skills and experience but usually has a good stipend of 15 - 30k per month in companies like google , amazon etc .. thus these are all the types of interships i'm aware of and have been part of these few , but to be eligible u need good academic record , sometimes a specific skill set , to apply for them there could be application or interns portal or external platforms like LINKEDIN are the best for u or INTERNSHALA .... thus given all of these , this summs up the INTERSHIP Opportunities of HINDU college

Placement Experience

5

As i'm a 1st year student I'm not very into placements as my course is BA and irrespective of the college very few students are able to get placement for having a BA degree but I've heard from seniors and read some reports after doing some research that Ur able to be in the placement after ur 5th sem , furthermore the courses which usually gets the placement involves B.COM , BA Economics hons , BA Pol Science and History hons in NITI AAYOG or for BSC. I think Mathematics or statistics hons caters to the placement part the highest placement last year was 36.50 LPA offered while the average was 10.40 LPA which is seemingly impressive though there's a 90% placement rate in BCOm which is one of the highest in entire DU and more than 50% of ECO hons students too get placed while a few from POLSCience AND history too gets placed as societies have played an imp role too mainly by the DISHA one which offers valuable internships .... well my plan after getting a degree is a secret which I'M not comfortable in sharing so I hope u respect that but my friends in the same course plans to opt for Higher studies i.e MA then maybe PHD , ya others are planning for typical govt . exams thinking that they would clear UPSC . all the best to them the companies which I heard from seniors who were placed that came to college was ACCENTURE , DELOITTE , KPMG AND ig HDFC too was there ...

Fees and Financial Aid

Ok so the year wise fees vary course to course , for my course i.e BA socio it was 26800 , it's for General but for SC , ST there are some concessions maybe around 26300 something like that , the difference is meagre , moreover for the BSC courses the fees structure is different and is comparatively higher than the BA ones cuz that involves variety of lab work and other work catering to their discipline . Although scholarship of various kinds are provided by the DU but the one provided by my college is RAJBHARGAVA scholarship that offers 75k Ruppees to 12 students from the 1st year , 2nd and 3rd years after a test and PI is conducted involving other stages that summates to the MAT .... besides this there are other scholarships which I'M AWARE of Dr BM bhatia scholarship i.e 6000 to a student attaining maxi marks in ba economics hons , there was SAROJ BALA MALIK SCHOLARSHIP of 15000 to 2 students of BSC 3rd year on the basis of merit cum , just like that there are scholarships for different departments specifically like for History and Chemistry etc ..... as someone who's new to college I'm aware of these much but I feel this suffice and caters to the topic well ......

Campus Life

5

well the social aspects and dynamics of social life in Hindu college is very strong and incorporating with a warm welcome for anyone who tries to be a part of it , the campus life is as beautiful as the campus itself there are various societies and clubs for people with different personalities for people with different life interests and thus catering to each and everyone of them with there needs ... one of the best things about the entire College is it's Library with a wide range of books available which can be issued all the imp journals , magazines even newspapers are available at the earliest in the library . the facilities and technological provisons are adequate in the classrooms depending on the course but I thing I FEEL is that the science students get AIR VENTED rooms i.e AC while others dont that's a big issue especially given the current circumstances in Summers in DELHI ... anyways moving to the sports and extracurricular activies are colosssaly large for everyone have talked about this earlier as well .. moving on to fests the most famous annual cultural fest in the entire DU which happens in Hindu is the MECCA , besides that there are others fests which caters either to the festival like diwali mela , holi one depending on the month in which they occcur , there's also annual literature festival , there's also MUSHAI'RAH and other several fests like this which happen also there's annual budget session and like this many other events happen and ofc there are many social grousp and social platforms where students can impact , these societies have there own student run protests , programmes recently one happened for the LGTBQ+ community aswell which ig severely impacts student storming a sense of alignnensd inside them

Admission

The reason why I chose my current college that's Hindu College is because firstly the hype around it for being No.1 which I feel it certainly lived upto and furthermore it has the best infra in entire DU , the curriculum the faculty , the fests , the interns and placements in each and every aspects it's the best which kind of makes it a go to mark furthermore , I decided for my course at the very beginning and thus only 2 colleges offered this for the boys that's HINDU college and VENKATESHWARA College , Venky is good but far away from my home consumes a lot of time and moreover Hindu is the best and something I've envied a lot furthermore there was no parameter which barred me from getting into other colleges as I had a very good score in CUET , furthermore the Admission process for all the DU college and my college is based on a exam named CUET , thus this exam decides ur fate , the exam is of 800 marks for BA hons and 550 not really sure for BsC , there are cutoffs for each college and for my college the cutoff was 765 for BA socio which u have to meet in order to get into the college after that ur documents are strictly verified by the college , also in case u submitted a reservation ccertificate and after that finally when it's approved by the principal u get to pay the fees and thus in this fashion u confirm ur seat in the college . so this is the entire admission process ...

Faculty

5

the faculty members in total are 5 and the students in our class are 73 , the faculty to the student is cooperative and friendly unlike other dept that's Political science they are atleast more cooperative and reflects the angle of humanity more vivdly and are approachable and like I said are quite flexible and rigid both at times to the need of students , the course structure is classified into 3 DSC comprimising 4 units of marks by each DSC , furthermore there is GE 4 units , VAC , SEC , AEC all 3 of 2 units and thus there are mid term class tests by the teacher to check the level of gratituty to which the student has complied to all the lectures , furthermore the difficulty level is moderate , the course curriculum as far is concerned is quite relevant to the current societal structure and as it progress tries to adress the complexities hidden and thus unravel the patterns lied in society through different field works and subjective perspectives I wont name the faculty members for ofc there privacy reasons , well there are always few students who fail to clear the class tests but cant say the same for exams as the 1st sem has ended recently

Night Life

4

i'm not a hosteler moreover I have never been interested into life night and all , it's a BS for me but mostly judging from my friends and there whatsapp stories , it could be deduced that the college is encapsulated by many cafes , public enjoyment activities where students usually go to hangout and chill . there's a famous VIRGIN tree in our college and furthermore the locality outside college is i feel quite safe to roam around at night .... I'm sry but I've nothing much on this to latch you

Placement Experience:

Campus Placements are competitive and hard to get. Usually multiple offers are limited to few disciplines such as Commerce or economics. While many arts students usually dont sit for placements in that high a number. Highest packages have gone upto around 45LPA, while average package remains somewhere around 12-14 LPA While companies such as BCG,. mckinsey etc do visit campus and as I said- they are more economics and commerce oriented but other discipline students also get placed- just not in these high numbers. Usually around 8-9 GPA is a good score for placemets. The employability is good in the market as the college does have strong Alumni Network and also is a recognised and reputed name in the job market.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Too vague to understand, feels extra burden of unnecessary irrelevant topics , extra papers like SEC/VAC simply add to the burden while barely providing with any skills and values as their name suggests . Studying them and preparing for exams add extra stress and unnecessary burden on them , diverting their focus from their core papers , which are already too huge and they study materials or readings simply fail to assist . Areas for improvement would be - proper structured study materials , also proper structured practical subjects / papers for students where they can actually learn or gain knowledge/skills which will be advantageous in their future .

Placement Experience:

I would say the placement opportunities are more available for science , commerce background students in the college there are rarely any placement opportunities for humanities background students . Mostly students starts engaging in placement in the fifth semester .severky companies visited campus every year including Deloitte , EY.TCS etc . Around 40 - 50 percent students from professional courses get the placement annually .even for the students not opting for placement the exposure n the strong alumni network of college help them secure good opportunities outside campus

Placement Experience:

Campus placement is done in the 3rd year. The highest PPO given is 24,00,000 to auditing and taxation departments. Average package is about ?15,00,000 to ?18,00,000. Companies like Eay, KPMG and more visit our college for placement. Most students under the commerce department get offered internships. Other than this, the placement cell also actively keeps sending internship opportunities for students to enhance their profiles. I am an English honours student l, thus there is no placement option for me directly unless I take up options from the P-Cell. I have already interned at EY India, Gurgaon, as a forensics and risk management specialist( throigh personal referral). My knowledge (attained from DCAC) of research, report and article writing were used adequately.

IIAD has a 90% placement track record. Companies like Netflix, Levi's, FabIndia, Squareboat come for campus placements. The average package offered is also decent, around 5 LPA. My seniors are quite happy with the job roles they have received during the campus placements. Students are eligible to apply for campus placements in their final year. My plan after getting the degree is to start my own fashion marketing agency.
