Likes
- Jipmer is a very large campus surrounded by lush greenery spread over many acres.
- We have many facilities like basketball court, tennis, swimming pool, gym,table tennis, futsal court and many more
- Since it is a very reputed hospital, there is good patient exposure and we can get more clinical practice.
Dislikes
- Very few holidays and leave cannot be taken often due to attendance shortage
- Swimming pool facilities can be availed only if there is membership which costs 300 per month
- Less co-curricular activities. Only few programs occur in jipmer which are mostly conducted by students itself
Course Curriculum Overview
Most allied health course in the country does not have dissection in their curriculum, in jipmer ahs students also have to study practical aspect as well. From second year onwards we are posted in our respective departments and classes are given by the professors and residents in the cardiology department
Internships Opportunities
There are not much internship opportunities. Final year is compulsory internship in our college itself. It is a paid intership. There are also research opportunities for ug students that they can do and earn a cash prize once they complete
Fees and Financial Aid
The academic fee per year comes around ?5760 which includes which includes tuition fee of ?1200, jipmer students association fee of 1000, learning resource fee of 2000, corpus fund fee ?60 and student information fee of ? 1500. The hostel fee per year is 11000. We can avail central scholarship nsp and get an amount of 90,000-1 lakh.
Campus Life
The main festival in jipmer is spandan . It is a week long intercollege fest where many famous colleges from around India like afmc and aiims participate. We also have interclass sports and cultural. There are dance , photography, art clubs
Hostel Facilities
There is both two sharing and single rooms. It comes with a table,bed ,a cupboard, a smaller table and a small chair. There is common toilet facility and purified drinking water . We also have a common hall with ac and fridge and a separate library for study purpose. There is also free laundry service.
Admission
I also applied for ayurveda in kottakal arya vaidya sala and got a seat but I preferred studying in jipmer for a paramedical course rather than doing ayurveda. Jipmer is the second best medical college in India after aiims Delhi . The admission process here is quite different . A rank list would be published once you apply and there is an offline counselling where you have to come in person and choose the course you want according to your rank
Faculty
The student faculty ratio is appropriate. The faculties are approachable,well not everybody. They are highly qualified faculty and are authors of most the textbooks that we follow. The exam structure is such that there is 3 internal exams , one send up examination ( mock finals) and a university exam.
Night Life
There are many cafeterias that are run by proodle all over the campus some of which are open 24/7. Some girls hostels have curfew of 11oclock but this does not apply to every hostel. There are many restaurants and cafés nearby like M&M, shakespot, Madeena , kokonutlagoon etc
