Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this college because of its specialization in Railway Engineering which will make me industry-relevant in the upcoming four years. I took the Mechanical Engineering branch here as per my interest. The course curriculum has everything needed to be a good railway engineer. We have two exams in a semester- Midsem exams (25 marks) and Endsem exams (50 marks), the rest 25 marks depend on the projects and assignments submitted to the faculties.
Internships Opportunities
In our college, internships are necessary for all the students. We are provided with an internship with Indian Railways in the second year and with PSUs and big reputed private companies in the third and fourth year. The internships are both paid and unpaid depending upon the companies.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placement from their 7th semester. Companies which have visited and which do visit our college regularly Siemens, L&T, Aarvee, Nippon Koei, Jindal Steel, TCE, DFCCIL, RITES, Hitachi Vantara, TATA Projects, Mahindra Logistics, Transworld, Garuda etc. Since only two branches graduated in 2024, the placement percentage was 88% for ECE and 92% for Civil. My plan after getting the degree is to go for the UPSC IES exam and GATE preparation.

Campus Life
There are three fests conducted in our college - Agnee, Ojasaya (Sports Festival) and Epitome. There are two libraries present in our college - GSV Library and Sanchetna Library (NAIR) which host thousands of books of various genres. All our classrooms, mess and libraries are fully air-conditioned. Our classrooms are equipped with modern technologies such as digital projector and high-quality sound system
Hostel Facilities
For all the students of all the years, the facilities provided are an Air conditioner (each room), geyser, almirahs, beds (diwan) and common washing machines. The mess is decent here with a great quality and variety of meals available here (4 times). The hostel rooms are allotted on a first come first serve basis. They are allotted to all the students.
Admission
I applied for various government colleges based on my JEE Percentile through their respective counsellings. I got a confirmed in many IPU colleges of Delhi but i chose GSV over them because of its uniqueness. For our college, you must have given JEE mains and have a percentile of 85+ to get an admission here (General).
Faculty
Our class of mechanical engineering (specialization in Railway Engineering) has currently 5 subjects in 1st semester. So the faculty ratio would be 5 faculties per 42 students as per our class. There are two exams in one academic year - Mid semester exams and end semester exams. Also we have to give assignments and class tests for all the subjects. The exams are of decent level if you study eagerly throughout the year.
Night Life
There is a gym available at Stanza Living where the boys of the first year reside (as of 2024) which can be accessed at its designated times. There are two libraries at our college - GSV Library and Sanchetna Library (NAIR). The timing of GSV library is 8 AM to 7:30 PM and the timing of Sanchetna Library is 11 AM to 1 PM and 3 PM to 5 PM.
