Life at SUTAMS

I chose this course not due to the curriculum..i qlways dreamed of becoming a good doctor.The level.of satisfaction you get in this profession wont be anywhere else.The modernization of curriculum has stressed on the clinical aspects which i think is the core of medicine. We have been taken to bedside and taught to examine patients diagnose the case and interpret imaging.Also the skill lab clears the obstruction we face in a real life like we are being trained in BLS and ALS. Our junior batches are also taken to trivandrum medical college to see autopsy which in fact is a real opportunity. The course could improve in a way that apart from academics it must give importance to sports arts also which is not promoted in our college.Also revisions classes can be made effects by conducting small test papers chapter wise instead of taking chapters on repetition. Exams are almost done in an effective way. The course is actually very difficult compared to others.So much effort has to be put in from both students and Teacher's side.

The students do their internship in the hospital for 365 days for that a pqyment of Rs 10000 is given per month. We have to work in all the departments clinical and non clinical starting from anatomy physiology biochemistry pharmac micro patho and to the clinics like emergency medicine surgery ortho paediatrics obg and many more.No leaves are granted as such Permission should be taken prior for leave which itself is a hectic things.If not informed prior Rs 333 will be cut from the stipend. No other allownces are given. In fact the amount payed to house surgeon are very less compared to any givt medical colleges and the amount of work they do is disproportionate to the stipend. Working in all the department helps us to go forward to start our clinical practice independently. During house surgency we are not allowed as general practitioner anywhere. We have log books and record books to be submitted.The internship period helps to make the bond stronger with senior post graduates as well as with our Doctor's more..exposures also help us to deal with medico legal cases the do's and don'ts the stresd is much more but its worth the satisfaction. We dont have anyother projects or task other than taking seminars rarely. Over all its fine but the stipend could be increased since the standard of living is tremendously increasing.

Hi..we have an yearly fees of Rs 6,20,000 and Rs 1,20,000 as the hostel fee every year.The fees increases every year. In addition to that we have to pay the exam fee of Rs.1805 We dont have any lab fees or other payment. For those having fee concession (egrantz) they dont have to pay the tuition fee but have to pay hostel fee of Rs 54000 nearly every year.No exam fees for them

My overall experience is average beacuse there is nothing attracts here other than the academics.Initally when i joined here i felt it like a jungle tbh.Also there were very few patients in the hospital.The hostel infrastructure was miserable and the mess was horrible. There was no much ragging. Our collect doesnt give importance to spirts and arts so the culturals being conducted are very very less. We girls have restriction in the hostel. The gate closes by 6m which makes us difficulty to attend program and go out to chill. There is no much open spaces to host programs and no spacious grounds to play..all we have are places surrounded by rocks and trees..but i have to say the ambiance is good sontimes. We cant invite a guest like other colleges because the management's doesnt provide much fund at last it should be coolected from the students which again makes it difficult. Also inorder to get permission the union has to make several visits to the management. At times i got frustrated with the office people because they make everything delayed. They dont behave properly ..they are so arrogant. We dont have any student's club or union .In all the colleges students opinion are valued but here our words are mostly neglected. We dont have any sort of enjoyment here that we wished to have in a campus life

I stay in the college hostel.Not much facilities are provided .In a room 3 or 4 people are accommodated. Each of us have a bed and mattress study table and chair also 1 almirah. We have a gym at the top .on the whole we have 5 Floor including terrace where the gym is and also is the place to dry clothes..The water supply is from Aruvikara and purified water is given for drinking.we have washing machines for each floor shared by 2 batches almost by 100 students. The mess was actually below average but now has been taken over by another group.The food is overall good.providing both vegetarian and non veg separately but the amount provided is less but quality is way better.on 3 days a week we have chicken for dinner and fish egg are privided alternatively for lunch.They also provide snacks in the evening. On sunday we have chicken biriyani.The process of admission to hostel goes along with the other procedures. U can stay at hostel or can stay as paying guest but it is actually a little bit difficult to get a safe and secure place and the rents are also high.It is affordable if you move out as a group. But for internship the accommodation is free but preference for alloting hostel will be for hostelers over paying guest.

I initially got admission for Ayurveda (BAMS) in Thripunithura Govt Ayurveda college,but since i loved medicine so much i waited for getting alloted.I didn't choose this college intentionally rather it was my only option left.This was my spot allotment. Before this i got alloted to SreeNarayana Institute of Medical sciences but the fees was too high also the area was bit rural.I found it difficult for transportation and also it was an area of high risk during flood

The majority faculties are well experienced and approachable. They help us in all the way they could. My personal favourites: Dr Rasheed,Cardiothoracic surgeon Casualty incharge..he is an encyclopedia. He knows how to teach students in the best possible way..others are Dr.Anoop orthopaedics, Dr.Vijayamohan medicine etc We have 2 internal assessment exams and 1 model (theory and practical) and the university. In addition we also have test conducted by respective departments. Most of the students manage to pass..4 or 5 fails to clear on an average. Now the curriculum is based on CME giving more importance for practical skills. We also have skill labs from 1st year.

We girls dont have night life in SUTAMS.The hostel gates close at 6pm. We dont have hang out places here..also we are a bit far away from the city so the travel time is more. Night activities are strictly prohibited. We have class till 4pm and all hang out we can go it to the college canteen and come back .The only place to sit and relax is the rocks which we have plenty in muner but since its not our college property other people often visit and they drink so its completely unsafe for us. We dont even have access to library at night which is one of the worst thing a campus can have. We have separate boys and girls hostel.Boys doesnt have much restriction. Their gate closes by around 9pm something We have gym in the terrace of our hostel but not being guided so most of us dont use it Since the college is in the capital city of Kerala,there is a lot to explore like we have zoo,Napier museum, Sreepadmanabhaswamy temple,Azhimala,Ponmudi lots of cafes,beaches and many more to explore esp night
