Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum wise the college follows the set curriculum by the NMC(national medical council) Which is normal at par with all medical college in india which makes sure that we become the best of a doctor with high patient load and also all the final paper are taken up by the university itself which ensures that only qualified students get into next year for which our college faculty work extensively with us to get us ready in every aspect also the practical aspect is also done with clinical visit mostly every day which gives us a real life experience

Internships Opportunities

2

You will get to do a mandatory 1year internship the college hospital itself after finishing your final year examinations its here you are paid accordance to the rule laid out by the university kuhs but there is no company coming to hire you as a doctor

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees breakdown is as follows 1 tution fees-734000(for managment quota)/2000000(nri quota) 2 hostel fees-25500(but could increase on basis of which room you choose) 3special fees-38539 + 6200(student association fund)+ 2300(pta) Mess fees-54000 All this fees are yearly and to be remitted for 5 years

Campus Life

3

Talking about the college life is bad and i am not even joking like its bad first of all there is hostel timing which is literally 7pm evening everyone has to be in before 7pm along with it there is very less events which happen in sports and arts amd i think one big boost which this college could really use is increasing the facilities We have a central library with opens at morining 8am and closes at 8pm evening you can find most of the books there The college do have some houses which goes under some competitons regulary and you could join them to so case your talent

Hostel Facilities

3

I live in hostel with double occupancy we are provided with a almirah along with tables and chair 1 fan 2 lights and 2 bed and a attach bathroom which is a big ups for me the mess menu is horrible like if your from outside kerala your gonna find a very hard time adapting yourself but its affordable compare to outside where a typicall rent is around 10k but as a student from outside kerala do note that it's mandatory for you to take hostel so no hostel out for you

Admission

So i applied to almost all the colleges in kerala one of the biggest reason for me to come to kerala was its private college fees was lowest for students who could not secure a government seat in mbbs i did got mout zion medical college in first round but went for dr somervell because of its reputation in studies and high patient load that made me come here

Faculty

4

So this college is mostly about study and academically inclined here most of the faculty are good and supportive it and approachable its all about how much dedication you have and how much you are able to engage with the faculty you have to be initiating and showing interset rest is taken care by the faculty Talking about exams they are always on point like they dont differ the exams at first most of the student fail in exams due to lacking of understanding but soon they start to pass without difficulty once they get gasp of the curriculum the toughness of exam is on point what we get in university examination by KUHS and hence such paper are needed and highly relevant

Night Life

2

There is no college nightlife in this college like you have to be inside your hostel at 7pm and you could not go out so let me talk about evening life of the college its includes cafeteria which is inside the campus where you could visit to have food and stuff also there is gym inside the hostel where you could use to work out even at nights thats a good thing but there is lack of equipment in the gym so its a downgrade

The curriculum is vast and it relies more on theoretical knowledge than practical knowledge. The course should be improved enough to provide a better learning atmosphere to students. Exams occur every 2 months and is quite difficult

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is a pretty hard one i must say but the feeling of putting on a white coat and looking after patients is surreal and that's the main essence of the job. The curriculum is very vast but each subject is important in its own way. The exams are all conducted in such a way that there's enough time for us to prepare .

Placement Experience:

Placements are not available in the college. After mandatory HS, we are free to find jobs. Many passed out students remain in the college as tutors while preparing for their PG entrances. Some also teach nursing and/or paramedical students. As an MBBS degree is not enough to get a job, everyone plans on joining for PG courses. MBBS degree will only get us as far as a casualty doctor or medical officer in a PMC.
