Likes

There is a good load of patients so ample scope to gain clinical knowledge
We have really got awsome lecture hall as compared to other colleges
College is near the captial city of Panjim and hence is well connected

Dislikes

Fees are more as compared to other Government medical colleges
Strict attendance regulations, you should keep attendance above 75%
There are no vacations included in the calendar

Course Curriculum Overview

Goa medical college follows the CBME guidlines prescribed by NMC. There are 2-3 hours of lectures every day and there are clinics rotation in the wards. 1st and 2nd year students have lot of journal work

Internships Opportunities

There is compulsory internship after you complete 4th year. Students are offered 30k monthly for that. Students are rotated in all the department and provides exposure to all the type of medical field

Fees and Financial Aid

As a general category student I pay around 65,000Rs per sem including hostel fees and then are total 9 semesters. Fees for other reserved categories are around 40,000. Fee structure keeps changing every year.

Campus Life

We have a cultural fest every year organised by the 3rd year students called Plexus. Which is pretty decent. Plus there is ganesh Chaturthi celebration organised by 2nd year students which was quite fun

Admission

It is the only medical college in goa and hence i had no other choice. The admission is done through Dte. You have to submit your details with neet score on their website and then you are called for rounds

Faculty

College has quite experienced faculty, most of them teach quite well. At end of a year you need to answer a university exam conducted by Goa University. And should score min of 50% of aggregate combined in practical and theory exams. Also student should score min of 50% in internal exams

Goa medical College reveled

Course Curriculum Overview:

The academics here is really great. They focus much on clinical aspects rather than on non clinical. The SGDs( small group discussion) and SDLs( self Directed learning) are better approachable form to reach students here they make a small group of five students per teacher for the discussion and gives a topic for the discussion. One improvement I will suggest is to use animated videos more in lectures rather than written slides. Frequency and timings of exams are perfectly coordinated (somewhat frequency is more????) that gives a better time and pressure to revise the contents taught.

Oldest Medical College in Asia

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is cbme based this meets the international standards and students can attampt usmle aslo. The course give u exposure to real world scenarios. The course is good as it is. The exams take place every semester and end of the year finals. Moderately difficult to clear.

I decided to choose this course when I was 14. Curriculum is well balanced for students so they can easily prepare for real world applications. Timings of classes can be changed. Exam timings are good but frequency is high.

Goa CET, scored 96% marks and opted cause its in my hometown and good faculty and good patient load and good experience. Admission process is very easy and straight forward as this is a government college.

Bachelor of optometry in Goa medical college

I wanted to try for armed forced medical college as I wanted to serve the army along with the medicine and other requirements but was not possible as I couldn't score much in neet and I had to settle for whatever I was getting and I was happy with it.
