Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose this course because I always loved science, technology and problem solving. It had the right mix of mathematics and technology to be very enjoyable and easy for me. Faculty:student ratio is about 1:60. All professors are very qualified with PhD degrees from reputed colleges of India such as IITs, NITs, JU etc. Term exams are followed with strict schedule and it is very easy to pass them.

Internships Opportunities

2

My friends got internships in reputed companies like Microsoft, Samsung, JPMC and Wells Fargo but I did not get any on-campus internship. I spent my summer working on my final year project with the help of the PhD scholars. My project was Honk Detection using Tensorflow Neural Networks.

Placement Experience

3

Students become eligible for campus placements in the third year of study. It is to be noted that in third year they can apply only for internships and subsequent pre-placement offers, while in fourth year the option to apply for full-time opportunities becomes available. Reputed tech companies such as Microsoft, Samsung, NVIDIA, Oracle, Qualcomm, finance companies like JPMC, Wells Fargo, BNY Mellon are some of the companies which offer placements in Computer Science. Many Indian and startup companies also visit our college for placements. Highest CTC is 51 lpa from Microsoft followed by 40 lpa from Samsung. In our batch almost 60% students are placed. My plans after getting the degree is to get a job either in private or public sector.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is different for different categories of students. The maximum course fee is 62500 per semester. The hostel fee is 10300 per semester. The distribution is as follows: For SC/ST/PwD: NO course fees, ONLY hostel fees For family income < 1 lakh/yr: NO course fees, ONLY hostel fees For family income > 1 lakh/yr and < 5 lakh/yr: 20000 course fees For family income > 5 lakh/yr: FULL course fees. The average CTC for CSE in 2024 is 9 lakh with around 60% placed till date.

Campus Life

4.5

Annual fest is named RECStacy and conducted in the month of April. It features various cultural programs with famous personalities. Annual tech fest is called AAROHAN and conducted in March. It features various tech shows, quizzes and fun games. All sorts of text/reference books and scientific journals are available in the library. All classrooms are spacious and equipped with projectors and audio systems. Our college regularly participates in Inter-NIT sports competitions. We have a football ground, a cricket ground, a gymnasium and many other sports facilities. We have clubs for different fields like Maths and Tech Club, Dance club, Literary club etc. For a detailed description of the clubs in our college visit https://nitdgp.ac.in/p/clubs-1

Hostel Facilities

3

There are different hostels for different years of students. First and second year boys get comparatively newer and larger hostel buildings with better rooms. The third and fourth year boys get older hostels which are crumbling down but livable. There is a maintenance crew available for every hostel and take prompt action when called. For UG girls there is a single large hostel which is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. For first and second years, since the food is supplied by private vendor, there are limited food options and cost is high. For third and fourth years students form a mess committee and can choose whatever they want to eat. The registration process is very easy, students get to choose their roommates and there is no issue of availability. Everyone gets accommodated.

Admission

The admission process was based on JEE Main performance and through JoSAA counseling. There is no separate application form of the college, everything (including fee payment) is done through JoSAA portal. I had JEE Main AIR 13371, so I could easily qualify for B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering. The cutoff for B.Tech CSE in 2020 was AIR 16406. I am from General category so no reservation benefits. More customer service/helpline should be provided for students.

Studentsbecome eligible for placements from 7th semester. Various companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Godrej, etc. come for placements. Earlier many offers used to come however in the recent years the number of offers made have reduced significantly. highest package comes around 10 to 11 lakhs per annum with average being 4-5 lakhs per annum. I have kept my options open after completion of degree in doing further studies that is Mtech or getting into a job whichever seems appropriate at the situation.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
