Course Curriculum Overview

Civil is a core branch where many options are available for higher studies and also government job vacancy available. Being Autonomous college, question is designed by college and exam also held by the college. Well experienced, skilled faculties tach in very modern and technical way

Placement Experience

From 7th semester students are allowed for campus placement. L &T, worley, GKW, WPIL, TCS, ITD cementation, Ultratech etc. Companies visit for campusing. 90% students get placement. Choosing M. Tech as further decision for core students is best

Fees and Financial Aid

Remuneration is very low and affordable. SVMCM, OASIS and Alumni Scholarship are provided for the required students. Half and full free tution fees also provided for specific student. Different companies do campusing.

Campus Life

Several clubs are their for extra curricular activities and thechnical, social purpose. Besides Dance, drama, music club also trekkers club, sports , art, photography clubs are present. NSS, Rotary and Jyoti Organizations are also situated. Also several technical clubs like DNC, CFI, SAAC, IEEE are their, where you can make your own project.

Hostel Facilities

Boys Hostel is available and seperate for different year students but there is only one girls hostel. That's why everyone can't get chance . Hostel meal is moderate type and menu is fixed. In girls hostel 4 girls are alloted in one room. In boys hostel 3 or less boys are alloted in each room as per the class

Hostel Fee: INR 16000 per year

Admission

You have to fill up WBJEE form and get 5000 GMR in the exam. 60 seats are alloted in each department. Though building structure is not in well condition, classes are taken properly. Girls' hostel is not easily available.

Placement Experience:

From Third semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. The companies like P360, EY, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, Neutanix, BinaryWorks and few more visited our college for placements and mostly 15 to 20 offers were made Highest package was around 5 to 6 lpa 50% students were placed I am now preparing for govt jobs and side by side also applying for offcampuses. I have also given CUET for pursuing M. Tech

Placement Experience:

Studentsbecome eligible for placements from 7th semester. Various companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Godrej, etc. come for placements. Earlier many offers used to come however in the recent years the number of offers made have reduced significantly. highest package comes around 10 to 11 lakhs per annum with average being 4-5 lakhs per annum. I have kept my options open after completion of degree in doing further studies that is Mtech or getting into a job whichever seems appropriate at the situation.

A GOOD COLLEGE WITH GOOD PLACEMENT , SPORTS FACILITY.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements from 7th sem. The names of comanies visited are TCS, Infosys, Capegimini,Tech mahindra etc. Some students Got 2 offer laters . Highest packages last year was 47 LPA (off Campus) 27LPA ( on campus). Average pakage was 5-6Lpa. The job role is Software Development. Percentage of Students Got placement is 92-95% In my Deoartment. Other is Around 70_90%. My plans to take placement from product based company.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
