Likes

The college is quite affordable for all the students as the fees is very low
The cultural and tech fest of the college is quite amusing
The greenery and natural environment of the ege is quite good

Dislikes

Some of the faculty members are not good.. They will pressurize u on unnecessary things.
The college lacks good infrastructure as it is a govt funded college..
The library of the college is quite old and new books are not available

Course Curriculum Overview

Ece is a evergreen branch which have future opportunities in both software and hardware category.. But the course is quite difficult than the others.. The papers of this course are quite hard as it covers both the software and hardware portion.. In kgec there are almost 10-12 faculty members for the ece branch.. The faculty members are quite knowledgeable and most of them have done their post graduation from recognized institutes. The professors have wide range of knowledge about the subject and they can help u out according to ur own need. They are quite frankly and helpy too.. The exams generally depends on university but the internals are conducted by college and the quality of the paper was good

Approximate fees for a semester here is 10k..but after one sem the fees is deducted to 6k excluding all the one time charges.. There are quite a lot scholarships available out there forgeneral category students as well as other categories.. Campus Life

As it is a state government-funded college, you can clearly understand that the infrastructure of this college is not that great. But there is greenery around the campus and you will get a clean environment. As there are no restrictions, you will enjoy this college life to its fullest.

If u have to take admission u hv to give wbjee examination.. After giving that exam u will get college through online counselling according to your general merit rank.. If u have any quota then it will also be eligible.. To gain admission in kgec one should have rank between 100-4000 to get any branch in the college..

Placement Experience:

From Third semester, the students become eligible for campus placements. The companies like P360, EY, Deloitte, Tech Mahindra, Neutanix, BinaryWorks and few more visited our college for placements and mostly 15 to 20 offers were made Highest package was around 5 to 6 lpa 50% students were placed I am now preparing for govt jobs and side by side also applying for offcampuses. Placement Experience:

Studentsbecome eligible for placements from 7th semester. Various companies such as TCS, Infosys, Accenture, Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Godrej, etc. come for placements. Earlier many offers used to come however in the recent years the number of offers made have reduced significantly. highest package comes around 10 to 11 lakhs per annum with average being 4-5 lakhs per annum. I have kept my options open after completion of degree in doing further studies that is Mtech or getting into a job whichever seems appropriate at the situation.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

I gave West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination in 2024. I scored a decent rank but due to high cut off of this year I didn't get good branch in Jadavpur University.
