- The open space, which allows us to play around and enjoy the nature specially in winters
- The library is the most cool and peaceful room in our college
- Our college is situated at the most perfect location, its located in the heart of then city of Guwahati on the western banks of the historically famous Dhighali Pukhuri .The serene atmosphere with calm, green surroundings.
Dislikes
- Lack of Ac rooms, it's very difficult in summer's to survive the heat and there are less number of fans and the fans also doesn't work properly
- Lack of spacious and clean rooms, installation of more rooms are required
- There is only one small common room for students which is very difficult to keep up with. Requirement of atleast 2 spacious common rooms
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course as I was interested in studying more about literature and the history of it. There are 74 seats in our course and the teaching method of the teachers are good except some. The term exams are held after 2 months of starting the classes
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees of the BA for the 1st year was 5600 when I took admission. Now as a third year student our fees was 3330. Our college also provide the fee waiver option for the weaker section for admission. Scholarships are also available on merit basis and financial basis on NSP Portal.
Campus Life
There are cultural programs and other that are held at our college. There are clubs that provide the opportunity to showcase our skills. Books at the library are easily available. Handique Girls’ College Sports Cell took the initiative to form a football team of students in the month of January 2017 and accordingly the team has been given an initial coaching by the Guwahati College Sports Cell. The team first played a full time Match against Nagaon Women Football Team in an invitational Match held at Amsoi, Nagaon in June 2017. Aangik- The forum aims at maintaining an environment for growth of social commitment within the campus.
Admission
Admissions into the College are based on merit. In the B.A Honours courses candidates securing 45%(in General category) and 40% (Reserved category) in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply for admission. Candidates can find the application form and other informatios at the college website. The admission was smooth at that time it was online because of covid.
