Remarks

Nirma, overall is a great college. I had one of the best experiences of my life there. It provides a whole package; which a teenager, who is about to enter into the mature phase of his/her life; will find very helpful at each and every later stage his/her life. The college management is also pretty good, there is huge playground for the students, and it has a very beautiful campus.

Entrance Preview

For Admission in Nirma at that point of time, I had to appear for Gujarat State Board examination, and the score required was around a minimum of 85% in Physics, chemistry and maths for admissions in degree course of engineering under general category. I opted for this college because it was (and is) one of the best colleges you can get admission into through your Gujarat state board examination marks.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum was very robust and its regularly updated with time. Also we had a six week mandatory industrial internship, which helped us to get insight into actual working scenario. Apart from this we had regular factory visits in the nearby vicinity to have a practical demonstration.

Internships Opportunities

For chemical engineering and mechanical engineering we have a six week internship; between 6th and 7th semester, while for other branches the entire final semester is an internship. There is no stipend awarded for this internships, but we do get a good exposure.

Placement Experience

4.5

There are immense placement and job opportunities at this institute. Always we have recorded a 100% placement. Many students do get dual placements. the average package was around Rs. 3.5 lakhs per annum, and the highest package was around 8.5 lakhs

College Events

4.5

There are events which are being celebrated at nirma. We had Bracn wise clubs, for eg. for chemical engineering we had a club named CHESA, and we had a annual tech fest named Chemozale. Also there were other student chapters like Rotract Club and ISTE. We also had foundation day celebration at Nirma.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure at that point of time was Rs. 27,500 per semester, which was pretty much in line with the fees of other privately owned engineering colleges. But getting comparatively better facilities at Nirma, the fees, according to me, were pretty much feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

I haven't availed any scholarship from the college. There was a scholarship which was being offered by the Gujarat government of Rs.10000 per year, for a period of 4 years; for all the students passing 12th standard with more than 80% and pursuing higher education.

Campus Life

4.5

Nirma had an amazing campus life. though we had hectic study curriculum, but it was definitely filled with a lot of events and celebration along with it. Like other engineering colleges Nirma also had lesser number of girls. In my class of 60 students there were around 14 girls.

Hostel Facilities

3

Nirma didn't had a hostel facility for students pursuing bachelor's study at the institute. Though there are a couple of good hostels available at distance of around 3 km from the college, with good facilities. The mess food was okay, one can survive on it.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni Network is moderately active. There is a Nirma Alumni page on Alma connect. We do have some very renowned Alumnus like Pranav Mistry etc. And yes they are pretty much helpful, if you seek any guidance or any assistance.

Exam Structure

There are basically 4 main exams in a year, which includes 2 semester end examination and 2 mid term examination. Apart for this there are multiple tests which are taken based on the faculty member. Also there will be loads of assignments to be completed.

Admission

After the 12th standard results, there is admission counselling at the state level and you get a call based on your merit number. If there are seats vacant at the point of your turn, in the college and stream for which you want to opt for, then you can apply and get your seat.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the chemical engineering department were very qualified ones. Most of the faculties teaching there had a P.H.D. Apart from that they were also very friendly and supportive. And one can very well observe faculties going beyond there defined work to help the students during their minor and major project works.

I am in my 7th semester and I was asked to apply. After beging rejected from two I was still provided the opportunity and in 4th attempt I finally made it. Likewise every student is provided ample chances and mostly in penultimate semester around 70% students are placed. Rest all get one final chance in the massive placements activity in the final semester.

Remarks:

I choose this course because in the future it has a lot of meaning and the depth is beyond limits. I'm still really involved in this course. The best thing about our course is that the industry never stops having a wide demand, and there are uncountable companies such as small, medium and MNCs providing job opportunities. The course could have a little more technical expertise, and it should be compulsory to have job experience including internships or technical training. Over the year, numerous activities take place at the college, each of which is a celebration and an opportunity to highlight your abilities and talents. A technological fest, a cultural fest, a sports fest, a DJ night, a Garba night, etc are held. The campus community is all acquainted with each other and enjoys all the festivals with each other. Connectivity is not a problem, and the college is situated in the centre of the city, accessible by any sort of public transport, such as city buses, cars and personal vehicles.
