My Review of ICFAI, Hyderabad

My main reason for choosing this college was the fact that it is among the top 15 colleges in India to have received the AACSB, globally accepted business accreditation. Moreover, it has also consistently ranked among the top 10 Business schools in India as per rankings published by various independent agencies. I used the online form available on the official website to apply for my chosen program. After uploading my certificates and grade sheets, I also paid an application fee of Rs 600.

The BBA program curriculum comprises of 44 courses of which 37 are compulsory, 5 are electives and 2 are soft skills. The compulsory courses include topics such as marketing management, business statistics, business communication, introduction to business economics etc. These topics have helped me to develop a strong foundation in Business Administration. The course also offers us the flexibility in choosing our own elective courses and explore our interests. All our faculty members are highly educated and experts in their own subjects. Besides helping us to gain a basic understanding of the main topics, they also provide is with insights about the industry.

My program offered me two summer internship project, one was at the end of the first year and the second one was at the end of second year. I got an internship offer with Pantaloons Fashion and Retail in the post of marketing manager. The position provided me with corporate exposure and I also learned a lot of important skills like decision making, communication and negotiation skills etc.

With 96% of students placed in prominent companies every year, my University enjoys an impeccable employability rate. Some of the top recruiters are Axis Bank, HDFC, Hero Fincorp, Apollo Group, Bajaj Finserv, Tata Group, Tech Mahindra, FoodPanda, Genpact Analytics, EY etc. Last year the average salary was around 7.32 lacs per annum and the average highest salary was around 13 lacs per annum. Placements at our university start from the final semester.

For my program, I had to pay a tuition fee of Rs 1,15,000 every semester. In addition to this, I had to pay an admission fee of Rs 20,000 for confirmation of seats and a refundable caution deposit of Rs 10,000 along with the first semester tuition fee. My University also provides merit scholarships based on aggregate scores received in qualifying examination. The scholarships are renewable in case of continuation of good academic performance. Merit Scholarships are also offered based on semester wise performance.

We have a diverse student community on campus resulting in a vibrant campus life. We have Aaveg - annual sports meets, and Trishna - the Cultural and Management fest. Besides that we have over 30 student clubs and societies catering to a wide array of interests. Our University campus also features extensive interaction spaces, communication centers, academic blocks and cafeterias serving delicious food.

I stay at a rented flat near the college campus. The flat located in the Kollur region only which is just 30 minutes from the main campus. The location is convenient as there are lots of affordable markets and shops near my flat and can be reached via all major transportation routes. The rent is Rs 8500 and utilities like gas and electricity cost me around Rs 2500 - Rs 3000 per month.

There was no group discussion but based on my standard XII aggregate scores, I was shortlisted and invited for interview. During the interview, I was asked in-depth questions about my career and academic goals. I was also asked about my extra-curricular interests.
