Which will be better, IIT Patna for metallurgy and material sciences or BITS Hyderabad for an MSc in physics?
The Department of Metallurgy and Material Sciences was established in 2012; you won’t regret choosing this institute as you will have the advantage of the brand name IIT. Most companies prefer IIT students, and it is also beneficial if you are planning to attend competitive entrance exams like the CAT, GMAT, and so on.

Which is better IIT Patna, IIT Gandhinagar or NIT Allahabad for CSE?
My knowledge is limited to IIT Patna CSE as my brother studies there and his frequent narrations have given me a good insight of the institute. But trust me after going through the points you won’t consider IIT Gandhinagar or NIT Allahabad anymore.
- Usually, the majority of professors in IITs and NITs are a bit careless but here the CSE professors are especially supportive.
- IIT Patna CSE Placements recorded 98.65% with the highest package at INR 82.05 LPA and the average package at INR 35.57 LPA. Siem exceptional cases even receive packages in CPA.
- IIT Patna has made many big achievements and the number of students clearing the Google Summer of Code (GSoC) has also increased.
- In the ACM-ICPC, world-level coding competition, IIT Patna stood 2nd in the Kolkata zone and 56th worldwide.
- IIT Patna is well-known for its good coding culture so its CSE program is great.
So I would say go for IIT Patna!
Is it better to study the CSE branch at 2nd generation IIT like Patna, Bhubaneswar, or prefer mechanical engineering at Roorkee, Guwahati, or Kharagpur?
According to me, opting for CSE at 2nd generation IITs like IIT Patna is a better option. IIT Patna was established as a full-fledged IIT in 2008. Although comparatively newer, it has already created a huge impact in terms of placements and research.
- The CSE department of IIT Patna is excellent. The course offers good placements and faculty. The course curriculum of CSE at IIT Patna follows leaders in this domain like Harvard, IISc and IIT Bombay.
- NJACK is the Computer Science Club of IIT Patna. It conducts workshops, events and competitions to boost the coding culture and knowledge of computer technology among the students. Some other clubs/societies at IIT Patna are- TINKERER’S LAB, AI-NLP-ML Group, DSC, OWASP, and many more.
- IIT Patna labs are equipped with a Data-Center which has AI-GPU clusters. There are various labs at IIT Patna such as AI+ML+NLP Lab, Blockchain Lab, IoT Lab, Network Security Lab, Advanced Computing Lab, and Metaverse.

Which is a better option for an M.Tech in civil engineering, IIT Patna or IIT Bhubaneswar?
IIT Patna takes admission for M.Tech in Civil Engineering through the GATE exam. Candidates should have aggregate marks of 60% and above in their Bachelors’s. The GATE cut-off was about 450 for Civil Engineering in 2019. The total number of seats available in the institute are only 18-19.
The placement drive gives good opportunities to the students and the highest package in 2019 was INR.38 Lakh/year offered by Microsoft , followed by INR.35 lakh/year by DE Shaw, also reputed companies like Samsung, Uber, LinkedIn, Force Motors, L&T, Capgemini, TCS, Wipro, Amazon are the top recruiters.
IIT Bhubaneswar also needs candidates to clear the GATE exam with a good score along with aggregate marks of 60% and above in Bachelors. The total intake is about 18-20 only. The course fee is about INR 2.31 Lakh approx per annum. In 2019 the highest placement offer was around INR 39 Lakh per year and the average job package offered was INR 11.44 Lakh. PSUs like ISRO, IOCL, NCCBM recruited students from IIT Bhubaneswar. There was about 68% of total placement for M.Tech 2019 batch.

Which is better for electrical engineering IIT Jodhpur IIT Patna or IIT Bhubaneswar ?
IIT Jodhpur, IIT Patna, IIT Bhubaneswar all are good IIT with decent electrical engineering programs, which makes it difficult to just pick a single one.
Despite being a new IIT, IIT Bhubaneswar is ranked at 26, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework. How is the faculty at IIT Patna?
The faculty members of college are student friendly and helpful. The course (Bs-Ms) is about to 5 year (10 semester) long , each semester you have to give assignment, quizes and end semester exam. When the course is fully completed the final result is declared according to your previous end semester exams. The marking scheme of exam is quite simple 20% quiz, 30% assignment and 50% end semester.
How is the campus life at IIT Patna?
The over all experience of mine is good, the students are friendly and helpful also the faculty members. There is many cultural and social events like anwesha, udbhav andany more are held. Thre is many sports events held also like cricket or football tournament, badminton battle or vollyball and basketball tournament .
How are the hostels at IIT Patna?
Hostel facility provided bed, mattress, bedsheets, pillow, table, chair, cupboard, locker, etc. in the room. There are three boys hostel :- (i)C.V. Raman (ii)Aryabhatta (iii)A.P.J. Abdul kalam There are two girls hostel :- (i)Aashima (ii)Aryabhatta(only block - C) Mess food is average.
