How are the PG results of KMC Manipal, Mangalore students?

PP

Lives in Bangalore

KMC students perform well in PG entrances. The PG result mainly depends upon individual hard work and MBBS training.

As a student of KMC Manipal, I can shed some light on my institute. The MBBS training offered by this college is really good. The faculty is top-notch, and classes are held regularly. You’ll be offered high clinical exposure.

Many of my seniors have cracked PG entrances right after internship or a year drop. They got into top colleges with the stream of their choice. KMC Manipal is especially a great choice if you plan to move abroad.

Some of the exam questions are based on the USMLE pattern. Also, the college holds seminars to guide students on USMLE preparation. This is why the majority USMLE selects are KMC Manipal alumni.

Thus, KMC is a good choice for your MBBS, and you’ll get ample facilities over here to ace your PG entrances.

What are the pros and cons of doing an MD in psychiatry at KGMU or CIP in Ranchi?

AR

I can shed some light on the Psychiatry department of CIP Ranchi.

I don’t have much information about KGMU. But as far as CIP Ranchi is considered, the only academic pro is its enormous patient load. This offers a great exposure. Other than that, you’ll meet good peers and seniors. The biggest con, on the other hand, is the anti research attitude. People aren’t encouraged towards research. Only after you start publishing papers, do others invite you to their work.

But also, a lot has changed at CIP Ranchi in the past years. So I recommend you approach some seniors from both the colleges before arriving at a decision.

How is an MD in biochemistry at GMC, Mumbai? Does it have a scope and job concerned?

TR
Tirtha Ray, Posted On : October 3rd, 2023
M.B.B.S from Grant Medical College and Sir Jamshedjee Jeejeebhoy Group of Hospitals (2023)

An MD biochemistry in at GMC, Mumbai is highly regarded among medical aspirants. The value of the degree depends on the person taking the course, his interest in the field, and his goals.

One of my friends recently completed his MD in Biochemistry at GMC Mumbai and today works in a corporate hospital. Another friend, having completed the same course, works at private labs. Several others work as assistant professors. Some fortunate ones have even opened their own labs.

The scope of this course therefore depends mainly on you. To open more doors of opportunities, you can take seminars, and journal clubs, teach UG students, do internal assessments, and also do some research work. GMC receives huge grants from the Government for the research work.

So make a wise decision after considering all factors.

How do I secure a DM neurology seat in NIMHANS?

SD
Sagar Dikshit Posted On : October 3rd, 2023
NIMHANS 2022

It’s quite challenging to secure a DM Neurology in NIMHANS. One needs a very good rank under the AIR-5 range. NIMHANS conducts the best neurology-centered examination for students.

During the initial 2 years, you will hardly be able to study amidst the chaos of problems related to neurology. It’s only after 2 years when you come back to college that you will be able to study theoretical neurology topics like neurosurgery, pathology, etc.

If you are a research enthusiast, you will also have access to the Research Institute for Neurology. Additionally, you can work on some projects related to neurology like control of the human brain, dog motion control, etc.

All this combined may help you get a seat in SM Neurology at NIMHANS.

Which one should I choose for a PG in pediatrics, CMC Ludhiana or DMCH Ludhiana? What about the stipend in these two?

DS
Darshan Sethi Posted On : September 25th, 2023
Lives in Ludhiana

Both Christian Medical College CMC Ludhiana and DMCH Ludhiana are well-respected institutions for postgraduate studies in pediatrics. However, I recommend that you go for DMCH Ludhiana as it’s the most coveted medical college in Punjab owing to its top-notch infrastructure, clinical exposure, and the expertise level of faculty.

CMC Ludhiana too is an excellent medical college but the only drawback is that it’s a minority-based college so the seats in open merit are rare. It’s known to have the best Pediatrics department, so it’s an excellent choice too given that you have no financial constraints.

Lastly, I don’t think you should be choosing or evaluating colleges based on the stipend they pay. AIIMS pays the highest stipend but is that the reason it’s the dream college of many? Well, no. So it’s better to look at the bigger perspective and make a well-rounded decision.
