IIT Kharagpur has extended the IIT JAM 2027 registration deadline again to October 24, 2026, giving candidates additional time to apply for MSc and other postgraduate science programmes at IITs via joaps.iitkgp.ac.in.
The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) has extended the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027 registration deadline again to October 24, 2026. Candidates can submit their applications on the official JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) portal at joaps.iitkgp.ac.in. The registration window had earlier been extended to October 19, then to October 22, before this latest revision.
IIT JAM is the common entrance test for admission to MSc, MSc-MTech, MSc-PhD dual degree, and joint MSc-PhD programmes. These programmes are offered at the IITs and at select Centrally Funded Technical Institutions. Around 3,000 seats are offered through the test every year.

IIT JAM 2027 Application Fee
The fee depends on category and the number of test papers chosen. Payment is made online during registration on the JOAPS portal.

Test Papers and Exam Pattern
JAM 2027 will be conducted in computer-based mode across seven test papers. Candidates may appear for a maximum of two papers.

- Mathematics (MA)
- Mathematical Statistics (MS)
- Physics (PH)
The forenoon session runs from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. It covers Chemistry, Geology, and Mathematics. The afternoon session runs from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm and covers Biotechnology, Economics, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics. Each paper carries Multiple Choice, Multiple Select, and Numerical Answer Type questions.
How to Apply for IIT JAM 2027?
Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements should complete the online form before the revised deadline. Follow the steps given below.
- Visit the official JOAPS portal at joaps.iitkgp.ac.in.
- Register with a valid email ID and mobile number to generate login credentials.
- Fill in personal, academic, and category details in the application form.
- Upload the scanned photograph, signature, and other required documents.
- Pay the application fee online using net banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.
- Submit the form and download a copy for future reference.
This is the third extension of the JAM 2027 registration window. The repeated moves give aspirants extra time, but no further relaxation should be assumed. Candidates are advised to complete the process well before the new cut-off.
