The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has launched a new Master of Technology (MTech) degree in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. The programme starts from the academic year 2026-27. As per the official announcement on the IIT Guwahati website, admissions are now open. Candidates can apply online at opadmission.iitg.ac.in till July 15, 2026.
The programme is offered by the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Sustainability. It is among the first such degrees of its kind in India. The course admits its inaugural batch in 2026.

The MTech is offered in a hybrid mode. It combines online classes with on-campus laboratory work. Final examinations are held at the IIT Guwahati campus. This design suits both fresh graduates and working professionals.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Applicants need a Bachelor's degree of four or five years. It must be in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, or Mechanical fields. Production, Civil, IT, Design, or related branches are also accepted. A Master's degree in a relevant field also qualifies.
Candidates must have at least 60 percent marks in Class 12. A 6.0 out of 10 CPI is accepted in place of this. Mathematics is required up to the Class 12 level. There is no age restriction for applicants.

How Are Candidates Selected?
The programme does not require a GATE score for admission. Selection is based on a written test or interview. IIT Guwahati conducts this process itself. This opens the course to a wider pool of candidates.
