  • Step 4 – Pay the Application Fee: Pay the application fee online using net banking, credit card, debit card, or Paytm. The fee is non-refundable under all circumstances.
  • Step 5 – Submit and Save: Review all entries carefully before final submission. Download and save the application confirmation page for future reference.

VITEEE 2026 Application Fee

Candidate Category Application Fee
Indian Nationals ₹1,350
NRI / Foreign Nationals USD 90

You should double-check all details before final submission. VIT does not allow major corrections after the form is submitted. The application fee is non-refundable under all circumstances, including if you are declared ineligible or do not appear for the exam.

VITEEE 2026 Exam Pattern

VITEEE 2026 had 125 multiple-choice questions for a total of 500 marks. The exam duration was 2 hours 30 minutes, conducted in computer-based mode. Each correct answer carried +4 marks and each wrong answer led to a deduction of 1 mark. Unanswered questions received 0 marks.

VITEEE 2026 introduced negative marking of -1 per wrong answer. This is a change from the no-penalty pattern of earlier years. Do not attempt questions you are completely unsure about — the penalty can shift your rank significantly.

Section-Wise Question Distribution

Section Number of Questions Total Marks Who Attempts
Physics 35 140 All candidates
Chemistry 35 140 All candidates
Mathematics or Biology 40 160 PCM students attempt Math; PCB students attempt Biology
Aptitude 10 40 All candidates
English 5 20 All candidates
Total 125 500

Key Points About the VITEEE 2026 Pattern

  • PCM students take Mathematics (40 questions). PCB students take Biology (40 questions) instead — not both.
  • English (5 questions) and Aptitude (10 questions) are compulsory for all candidates.
  • The exam runs in two shifts per day. All shifts carry different question sets but are normalised for difficulty during rank calculation.
  • No physical stationery or calculator is allowed. The test interface provides an on-screen scientific calculator.
  • There is no sectional time limit. You can move between sections freely and revisit questions before final submission.

How Much Time Per Question?

With 125 questions and 150 minutes, you get an average of 72 seconds per question. Physics and Chemistry questions typically need more time than Aptitude and English. A smart strategy is to attempt Aptitude and English first (15 questions in around 10–12 minutes) and then spend the remaining time on Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology.

VITEEE 2026 Syllabus

The VITEEE 2026 syllabus is based on the Class 11 and 12 CBSE and state board curriculum. VIT specifies particular chapters for each subject — only those chapters appear in the exam. VITEEE 2026 Slot Booking and Admit Card

VITEEE uses a candidate-driven slot booking system where you choose your own exam date, shift, and city from available options. This is different from most national exams where the authority assigns you a centre. Understanding this process is important for VITEEE 2027 aspirants.

VITEEE 2026 Slot Booking

Slot booking for VITEEE 2026 was open from April 17 to 19, 2026 through VIT’s Online Test Booking System (OTBS). Candidates could choose their preferred exam date (April 28 to May 3), shift (morning or afternoon), and city on a first-come-first-served basis. Once a slot was booked, it could not be changed.

  • Slot booking was done at the OTBS portal linked from viteee.vit.ac.in
  • Two shifts per day were available — candidates chose based on personal preference
  • Exam was available in 130 cities across India and 9 cities abroad
  • Popular metro cities had limited slots — early booking during the window helped secure preferred options

VITEEE 2026 Admit Card

The VITEEE 2026 admit card was released 48 hours before each candidate’s booked exam slot — so if you booked the April 28 morning shift, your admit card was available on April 26, 2026.

  • Admit cards were available on the VITEEE portal and OTBS after logging in with your application credentials
  • The admit card showed your name, application number, photograph, exam date, shift timings, and test centre address
  • You had to carry a printed admit card along with a valid government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, Passport, or Voter ID) to the exam centre
  • No candidate was allowed into the exam hall without both the admit card and a valid photo ID

VITEEE 2026 Result

The VITEEE 2026 result was declared on May 8, 2026 at 7:00 PM on the official portal. VIT released the result on the same day Phase 1 counselling registration began, which is the standard practice for VITEEE. Candidates could check their result by logging in with their application number and date of birth.

What the VITEEE 2026 Scorecard Contains

  • Candidate’s full name and application number
  • Total marks obtained out of 500
  • All-India Rank (AIR) in the VITEEE 2026 merit list
  • Personal and academic details as entered in the application form

VITEEE 2026 Tie-Breaking Rule

VIT uses a defined tie-breaking rule when two or more candidates score the same total marks. The candidate with higher marks in Mathematics or Biology (whichever they appeared for) gets the better rank. If that is also equal, the candidate with higher Physics marks gets the better rank. If all three scores are identical, the older candidate is ranked higher.

VITEEE 2026 Qualifying Cutoff

VITEEE does not have a qualifying cutoff score. All candidates who appear for the exam receive a rank and can participate in counselling. There is no minimum marks requirement to be included in the merit list. Your rank alone determines your counselling phase eligibility.

VITEEE does not publish a qualifying cutoff. Every candidate who appears gets a rank and can participate in counselling based on that rank. Getting a low rank does not disqualify you — it only limits which phases and campuses you can choose from.

VITEEE 2026 Marks vs Rank

VIT does not officially publish a marks vs rank chart for VITEEE. The estimates in the table below are based on historical counselling data and expert analysis of how scores typically map to ranks in VITEEE. Use this as a planning reference — actual ranks depend on the difficulty of the paper and overall performance of all 2.5 lakh candidates.

Score Range (out of 500) Expected Rank Range Admission Prospects at VIT

VIT Bhopal Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh 25,000 – 45,000

VIT uses a fee-based category system (Category 1 to Category 5). Category 1 is the most affordable at approximately ₹2 lakhs per year and has the most competitive closing ranks. Category 5 costs approximately ₹5 lakhs per year and closes at a higher rank band. Your fee depends on the category under which you receive a seat allotment.

All cutoffs above are expert estimates based on previous year trends. VIT does not officially release cutoff data. Actual closing ranks in VITEEE 2026 may differ slightly depending on seat availability and candidate choices across phases.

VITEEE 2026 Counselling Process

VITEEE 2026 counselling was fully online and held in five phases. Each phase targeted a specific rank band, with earlier phases giving candidates with better ranks the first choice of campus and branch combinations. All five phases are now complete.

How the VITEEE Counselling Process Works

  • Step 1 – Register for Counselling: Eligible candidates log in at the official VITEEE counselling portal and pay a non-refundable counselling registration fee of ₹5,900. This amount is adjusted against the first-year tuition fee when a seat is accepted.
  • Step 2 – Fill College and Branch Preferences: Candidates list their preferred combinations of campus and B.Tech programme in order of priority. VIT allots seats based on rank and the availability of seats in your preferred combinations.
  • Step 3 – Seat Allotment: VIT releases the seat allotment list on the counselling portal. Candidates can see which campus and branch they have been allotted, along with the fee category (1 to 5) assigned to that seat.
  • Step 4 – Accept the Seat and Pay Advance Fee: Candidates who wish to accept the allotted seat pay a partial advance fee within the given deadline. This provisionally confirms the seat.
  • Step 5 – Pay Balance Fee: By the balance fee deadline, candidates must pay the remaining first-year tuition amount to fully confirm admission. Not paying by this deadline results in seat cancellation.
  • Step 6 – Campus Reporting: After fee payment is complete, candidates report to their allotted campus with all original documents for verification and to complete the admission formalities.

VITEEE 2026 Counselling Phase Summary

How to Prepare for VITEEE

VITEEE is a moderate-difficulty exam based entirely on Class 11 and 12 concepts. A well-planned study approach, combined with regular mock test practice, can help you score 400 or above. Here is a focused, subject-wise strategy:

Know the Pattern Before You Start

  • VITEEE 2026 had negative marking (-1 for wrong answers). This changes the strategy — do not attempt questions you have no idea about.
  • Mathematics or Biology carries 40 questions (160 marks) — the highest-weightage section. Give it extra practice time.
  • Aptitude (10 questions) and English (5 questions) are easy and quick. Always target full marks in these 15 questions.
  • Physics and Chemistry are 35 questions each — consistent with each other in difficulty.

Subject-Wise Strategy

  • Physics: Focus on Mechanics, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Electromagnetic Induction, and Optics. These chapters have the highest question density in VITEEE. Derive formulae rather than memorise them.
  • Chemistry: Organic Chemistry reactions and mechanisms need regular practice. For Physical Chemistry, work through numericals in electrochemistry, thermodynamics, and kinetics every day. NCERT is your primary resource.
  • Mathematics: Calculus (both differential and integral) consistently has the most questions. After Calculus, prioritise Coordinate Geometry, Vectors, and Probability. Solve 25–30 problems per chapter from standard reference books.
  • Biology (PCB students): NCERT Class 11 and 12 Biology textbooks are sufficient. Focus on Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, and Human Physiology — these carry the most questions in VIT’s Biology section.

Mock Tests and Previous Year Papers

  • Solve at least 15–20 previous year VITEEE papers. Question patterns repeat — especially in Aptitude and English.
  • In the 4–6 weeks before the exam, take full-length, timed mock tests every alternate day. This builds the stamina needed to focus for 150 minutes.
  • After every mock test, review every wrong answer. If the same topic comes up in errors more than twice, go back and revise that chapter completely.
  • Use VIT’s official mock test portal (typically released 7–10 days before the exam date) to practise with the actual exam interface and the on-screen calculator.

6-Month Study Plan for VITEEE 2027 Aspirants

If you are targeting VITEEE 2027, a 6-month plan works well. Spend the first 3–4 months building concepts from NCERT and clearing every chapter in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology. Use the last 2 months entirely for mock tests, full-length papers, revision of weak topics, and Aptitude practice. Aim for at least 40–50 full-length mock tests before the actual exam.

VITEEE 2026 FAQs

Ques. What is VITEEE and who conducts it?

Ans. VITEEE is the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination, conducted by VIT every year for B.Tech admissions at its four campuses — Vellore, Chennai, AP (Amaravati), and Bhopal. It is a computer-based test with 125 questions for 500 marks. More than 2.5 lakh candidates appear for it each year, making it one of the largest private engineering entrance exams in India.

Ques. Is there negative marking in VITEEE 2026?

Ans. Yes. VITEEE 2026 had a marking scheme of +4 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong answer. Unanswered questions carry 0 marks. This was a key change introduced in 2026 — do not guess randomly, especially in sections where you have no concept clarity, as the penalty can shift your rank considerably.

Ques. How many questions are in VITEEE and what is the total marks?

Ans. VITEEE 2026 had 125 multiple-choice questions for a total of 500 marks in 2 hours 30 minutes. The sections are Physics (35 questions, 140 marks), Chemistry (35 questions, 140 marks), Mathematics or Biology (40 questions, 160 marks), Aptitude (10 questions, 40 marks), and English (5 questions, 20 marks).

Ques. What is a good score in VITEEE to get into VIT Vellore CSE?

Ans. A score of 400 or above (out of 500) is generally considered safe for CSE-related branches at VIT Vellore. The closing rank for CSE Core at VIT Vellore in Category 1 is typically within 1,500 — which requires a score of around 450 or higher. For CSE specialisations (AI/ML, Data Science), a score of 380–420 can also get you a seat in Category 1 or 2.

Ques. What rank is needed for VIT Vellore CSE in VITEEE 2026?

Ans. Based on expert analysis of VITEEE 2026 counselling, the expected closing rank for CSE Core at VIT Vellore was approximately within 1,500 for Category 1 seats and within 3,500 for Category 2 seats. For CSE with AI/ML, Category 1 closing ranks were in the 1,500–3,000 range. These are estimates — VIT does not officially publish closing rank data.

Ques. How many times can you appear for VITEEE?

Ans. VIT does not impose an attempt limit for VITEEE. You can appear every year as long as you meet the eligibility criteria — which includes the age limit (born on or after July 1, 2004 for VITEEE 2026), and passing or appearing in Class 12 in 2024, 2025, or the current exam year. Note that each VITEEE score is valid only for the admission cycle in which it is earned and cannot be carried forward.

Ques. Can PCB students appear for VITEEE?

Ans. Yes, PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) students can appear for VITEEE. However, they are eligible only for B.Tech Biotechnology and B.Tech Biomedical Engineering. All other engineering branches — CSE, ECE, Mechanical, Civil, and their specialisations — require PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics). PCB students take the Biology section (40 questions) in the exam instead of Mathematics.

Ques. What is the VITEEE counselling fee?

Ans. The VITEEE 2026 counselling registration fee was ₹5,900 (non-refundable). However, if you accepted an allotted seat and paid the admission fees, this ₹5,900 was adjusted against your first-year tuition. Candidates who did not receive a seat allotment or chose not to accept the seat did not receive a refund of the counselling fee.

Ques. Is VITEEE score valid for colleges other than VIT?
