The Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) released the B.Stat (Hons) and M.Sc Quantitative Economics (QE) merit lists on June 11, 2026, followed by the B.Math (Hons), M.Stat, and M.Math merit lists in the last week of June 2026. Round 1 seat allocation is scheduled for June 30, 2026.

The B.Stat UGA cutoff for General/EWS has risen from around 50 in 2022 to 63 in 2026 — a 26% increase over four years. Competition has tightened noticeably year on year. If you are aiming for ISI 2027, target 70+ in UGA to stay comfortably above the likely threshold.

ISI Admission Test 2026: Merit List Details

The ISI merit list is a simple PDF document. Knowing exactly what it contains — and how the merit score that determines who appears on it is calculated — helps you understand your standing and plan your next steps.

How the B.Stat and B.Math merit score is calculated (from 2026):

• B.Stat: Combined Score = UGA + (3.5 × UGB)
• B.Math: Combined Score = UGA + (4 × UGB)
• You must first clear the Stage I UGA cutoff; only then is your UGB (descriptive paper) evaluated and the combined score computed
• Candidates via the INMO/Olympiad channel are still called for interview — a separate merit list is published for them and the above formula does not apply to them

For PG programmes (M.Stat, M.Math, MS QE), the final merit list combines written test performance with interview performance. The interview list released on June 1, 2026 was only a preliminary shortlist — appearing on it did not guarantee final selection.

ISI Admission Test 2026: Seat Allocation and Admission

Once merit lists are published, shortlisted candidates go through a three-round seat allocation process. You must complete the provisional admission formalities within the window for your round — missing all three windows means your seat is forfeited.

Steps to complete provisional admission after seat allocation:

1. Log in to the admissions portal after your round’s allocation date and check your allocated seat
2. Accept the seat and pay the provisional admission fee online within the specified window
3. Upload required documents: Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets and certificates, category certificate (if applicable), identity proof, and recent passport-size photographs
4. Report to your allocated ISI centre for final admission with original documents on the date given in the seat allocation notice

If you are allocated a seat in Round 1 but want to wait for a different programme or centre, check the official admissions brochure terms carefully before declining — the rules on re-entry to subsequent rounds are specified there. Once all three rounds close, re-admission is not possible for the 2026 cycle.
