Smt. L and C Mehta Arts College was established in the year of 1953 and formerly known as the GLS Arts College. GLS Arts College is a 60years old institution which has been declared as the Best Reputed Old College by the University Grants Commission. It is a part of the Gujarat Law Society, which manages 37 institutions and known as the largest educational complex in the State Gujarat. The college is affiliated to the Gujarat University and accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The college offers Bachelor of Art (B.A.) for students.
The main objective of the college is to impart higher education in humanities with seven major subjects and two subsidiary subjects. The college has produced a crop of outstanding alumni, which includes Central Ministers, Litterateurs, Teachers & Principles, TV Personalities and Judges.
