Government College of Education was established in 1957. The first name of this college was Post Graduate Basic Training (PGBT) College. In the year 1975 it was renamed as Govt. College of Education “Shaskiya Snatkottar Shiksha Mahavidhyalaya”. It is one of the few colleges where Post Graduate classes (Master of Education) are running since beginning. The College Library is well equipped up to well furnished with large number of textbooks and reference books. The College Library also subscribes various national and International periodicals and Journals related to education, Separate and other Course Books Providing Complex learning Environments.

Candidate should have Graduation and a bachelors degree obtained through the 10+2+3 system or an equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate of 50% or equivalent CGPA of any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India.
