SPJIMR: 3 Answered Questions

What is the XAT Cutoff for SP JAIN, K J Somaiya, IMT Ghaziabad, TAPMI, and FORE?

Adiya BondhopadayLives in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh

XAT or Xavier Aptitude Test is a national-level entrance exam conducted by XLRI, Jamshedpur for admission to management programs offered by more than 150 B-schools across India, including SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), K J Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research, Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad (IMT Ghaziabad), T A Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), and FORE School of Management.

Each of these B-schools has its own XAT cutoff score based on factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats. Generally, the XAT cutoff scores for these B-schools range between the 80 to 90 percentile.

It's important to note that while cutoff scores are an important factor in the admission process, they are not the only factor. Other factors, such as your academic background, work experience, extracurricular activities, and performance in other selection rounds, also play a crucial role in the admission process. So, it's always a good idea to aim for a high score in XAT and prepare well for other selection rounds to increase your chances of admission to the MBA program of your choice.

What should be the profile and CAT percentile for calls from SPJIMR?

Sounak Banerjee
Madhav ReddyStudied at SPJIMR ,Mumbai

It is essential to ensure that you secure a percentile of at least 95 in the CAT and have an excellent academic background. To increase your chances of getting selected, it is recommended to aim for a score above the 98 percentile as they have limited seats for non-Maharashtra students. If you have a work experience of at least three years and have won national-level competitions, then you may get a call even at the 85 percentile.

SPJIMR tends to prefer candidates with a profile of 90+ in academics, CAT/XAT/GMAT, and extracurriculars, with keywords such as national level, work experience at renowned companies like Google or Microsoft, and alumni from top institutes like IIT, NIT, BIT, SRCC, Stephens, and so on. They look for a "spike" in one of the areas, which means that if you have good academic scores, extracurricular achievements, and work experience, you can still stand out if you have a particular talent or accomplishment in one of the areas. For example, being a state-level Ranji player can spike your extracurriculars and increase your chances of getting a call from SPJIMR.

Although most candidates get selected based on their extraordinary academic scores, some exceptional candidates with unique talents and accomplishments in extracurriculars, work experience, or other areas can also secure a place in the program. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that you have a well-rounded profile with decent academic scores, extracurricular achievements, work experience, and a spike in one of the areas to increase your chances of getting selected by SPJIMR.
