S. B. Patel College of Engineering, Pune was established in 2009. It is affiliated to Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE), Mumbai and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The vision of the college is to become a world leader in the integration of (a) teaching and learning, (b) advancement of the knowledge base through research and scholarship, and (c) leadership in service and outreach. The mission of the college is to help prepare outstanding educators, scholars, and researchers, and to advance the profession of education, as broadly defined, through research on the science and art of teaching and learning, the application of clinical processes, the effective uses of technology, and the analysis and development of leadership and educational policy.

The students who have passed Diploma Course of Engineering or Technology with branch from the Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education with the minimum marks are qualified for the admission to Direct Second Year Engineering course.
