Ans. Mechanical engineering is not good in PSIT Kanpur. You will regret your decision of taking admission there. Following are the reasons why you should not join PSIT Kanpur PSIT Kanpur has very strict rules and regulations and parents have to pay a fine for everything. 90% attendance is compulsory, CCTV cameras are installed inside all the classrooms.  You cannot even sit and study in the library if you have some boring lectures going on.  You will not gain any knowledge even after spending 4 precious years. PSIT Kanpur lacks a competitive environment for GATE, CAT, etc. If a student wishes to prepare for any competition exam, the college rules are so strict that there will be no time left for your preparation Here’s presenting some facts about Mechanical Engineering at PSIT Kanpur - Categories Mechanical Engineering at PSIT Kanpur Course Fee 5.60 lakh Placement Percentage 80-85% Highest CTC 8-10 LPA Average CTC 3.7-4 LPA Recruiting Companies TCS, Infosys, Wipro. One of my friends qualified GATE with a respectable score that will lead him to do masters from IIT Bombay but believe me PSIT has no role in this. I even believe that if he would have done B.Tech from any other college then he would have got a better score in my final year. Therefore whoever is planning to take admission in PSIT. According to the recent highlights of PSIT Kanpur placements, 80% of students from CSE get placed each year. The highest CTC offered for the branch is around INR 21 LPA. Ans. In my opinion, IMS Ghaziabad is a much better option than PSIT Kanpur mainly because of its NCR location. When choosing a college, a factor of utmost importance is where the college is situated because your location will impact your college life largely. Opting for a college situated in NCR is a boon as it will give you a lot of exposure to activities and education in general. You get more exposure to industries and startups and thus getting internships is a lot easier. One more advantage is that you can avail many good coaching facilities in the NCR location which may not be possible in a city like Kanpur.  The campus life is less strict at IMS Ghaziabad than at PSIT and there are no strict attendance rules. The fees and value of a degree are almost similar in both colleges but you can enjoy your life much better at NCR colleges. I am strongly against you joining PSIT Kanpur because Not a good location Unnecessary struck rules related to attendance  You have to be stuck 9-5 completing unnecessary assignments which have no real importance  Not a good college to enjoy life and hang out No coding culture in PSIT  Despite it all, PSIT Kanpur has a 100% placement percentage and will help you get places in CS. Additionally, GLA has better lab and other facilities. Ans. If you have a GATE Scorecard, you will be able to secure a place on the PSIT for mechanical engineering. This is because of the availability of the one Interview Round. But try applying online or calling them for any opening if you are a graduate. They will inform you and organize an interview if they find you relevant. Whether you will be appointed as a faculty or laboratory assistant according to your qualification. You will continue to work for approximately 2 years as Lab Assistant. In terms of actual placement at the campus, top recruitment firms like Infosys, Capgemini, TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro visit the campus. Students are given leading jobs such as assistant system engineer, software developer, and business analyst. The top salary package provided is 26 LPA and the lowest pay package is 3 LPA. The average package available is 3.6 LPA. In order to better understand the concept, PSIT offers E-classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and training. Ans. HBTI IT will be better than IET Lucknow CSE. It offers better placements. All the companies that visit HBTI campus to recruit students from CSE, also allow students from IT branch to sit for placements.  Here are the recent highlights of HBTI placements. Ans. Both of the institutions are situated at a distance of 80 km from each other. IET Lucknow is situated in the industrial capital of Uttar Pradesh and the HBTI Kanpur is situated in the Political capital. If you live in one of the two cities, you can choose accordingly; otherwise, this factor has no significance. According to AKTU, both the institutes are ranked at number 1 and number 2 in UP, but the situation is completely different analytically. HBTI is a well-known institution and has been the parent institute of IIT Kanpur and Uttar Pradesh Textile Institute.  Both the institutes are government-run with complete control over examinations and the curriculum of courses offered by them. If you enjoy programming, Computer Science would be the appropriate course for you, while Mechanical Engineering is for those who want to acquire a genuine sense of what engineering is all about. The faculty of IET Lucknow is better than that of HBTI.  You will have numerous opportunities outside the campus. The placement statistics for the mechanical department are not very good at both institutes, but placement in the CS department is extremely good. Ans. Having friends from IET and studying at BIET, I have enough knowledge about both the institutions. So, my suggestion will be HBTI. It will be a better choice than the others. But before selecting any college you must first learn about each college and its branches.  Categories HBTI Course Fee 5.17 lakh Placement Percentage 75-80% Highest CTC 60 LPA Average CTC 10 LPA Lowest CTC 7.18 LPA Recruiting Companies Aditya Birla Group, Samsung, Adani, BORL, Reliance Industries, Indigo Paints, Berger Paints, Tata Consultancy, IndiaMart Firstly while choosing an institution, know where your interest lies and then opt for the desired subject. Secondly, choose the college which gives you more exposure. Make the list of all the pros and cons of the institutions and make a final decision based on it. Research about every stream - Gain information about each stream the college is offering, and choose the one that strikes your interest. Also research about the future prospects of the subject, which will help you make an informed decision. Examine what you require from the college - Every student has a different need from the institution they study in. This could be prospects in higher education, competitive exams like CAT, GATE, UPSC or maybe the college’s industrial, cultural and technical exposure. Ans. Choosing a particular college or a department actually depends on you, and how you want to shape your career ahead. Having known some people who study in both these institutions, I can say that they all have their fair share of strengths and weaknesses.  I might not be able to help you select one among them, because they are both good in their own ways. So, I will share some information about them which might help you make the choice. ECE at IET Lucknow has one of the finest faculty. They also have a great student crowd. HBTU also has highly experienced faculty members. Placements at HBTU are also much better than IET Lucknow. The enrolled candidates of the GATE exam are really great. They also offer a vast alumni network unlike IET. Categories Electrical Engineering at HBTU ECE at IET Lucknow Course Fee 5.17 lakhs 3.44 lakhs Highest CTC 29 LPA 18 LPA Average CTC 16 LPA 8-9 LPA Recruiting Companies Phillips, Havells, TCS, Aditya Birla, etc. TCS, DE Shaw, Barclays, Code Nation, etc. It is suggested that you go for the more experienced institute, as it will prove to be better for your career ahead. Ans. Go for the one which is nearer. Although, IIIT Lucknow is a fair enough option to consider for chemical engineering. All the above-mentioned colleges are national-level recognized colleges. The reason why IIIT Lucknow is slightly preferred over the others is because of its campus which is ever-growing and developing.  The recruiters are always eyeing the campus and offering packages as high as 10 LPA, which makes it quite a welcome option for all the applicants and aspiring candidates. Moreover, the campus will help you to focus on extra-curricular and other curricular activities too apart from academics, thus paying a lot of attention to the overall growth of the personality holistically and not just scoring good grades.  The multiple competitions and championships happening are always intended to prepare the students holistically. You can go for HBTI Kanpur only when you have no other options of IITs or NITs. It is a state-level college and not as reputable as the others.Read more
