CBSE Class 12 Physics deleted syllabus 2027 covers the NCERT portions marked as excluded for the 2026-27 session, and these portions will not be assessed in the 2027 board exam. CBSE has released the 2026-27 curriculum on cbseacademic.nic.in. It has not published a separate chapter-wise list of deleted Physics topics, so the lists below are based on NCERT exclusion markings reported by education websites.

  • The CBSE Class 12 Physics syllabus 2027 has 9 units and 14 chapters, with 70 marks for theory and 30 marks for practicals.
  • Most deletions are partial: derivations, activities, applications and exercise questions, not whole chapters.
  • Optics carries the highest weightage at about 14 marks, followed by Magnetism at about 11 marks.
  • The date sheet for the 2027 board exams is not yet released, and theory exams are expected to start in February 2027.
  • Always match every item below with the "not for evaluation" markings in your own NCERT books.

Ques. Has CBSE deleted any full chapter from Class 12 Physics for 2027?

Ans. No full-chapter deletion is reported for 2026-27. The syllabus keeps 14 chapters, and the deletions are partial topics inside them. Communication Systems was removed in earlier years.

Ques. Will questions come from the deleted topics in the 2027 board exam?

Ans. No. CBSE states that content marked as excluded in the NCERT textbooks is not assessed in the board exam. Check the markings in your own textbook to be safe.

CBSE Class 12 Physics Deleted Practical Syllabus 2027

The practical exam still carries 30 marks, but a few experiments, activities and project ideas are reported as removed. Your school sets the final practical list, so confirm it with your teacher.

Practical Component Reported Deleted Item
Section A Experiment Compare the EMFs of two primary cells using a potentiometer
Section A Experiment Find the internal resistance of a primary cell using a potentiometer
Section B Experiment Draw the Zener diode characteristic curve and find the reverse breakdown voltage
Section B Experiment Find the wavelength of a laser by diffraction
Activity Observe the polarisation of light using two polarisers
Investigatory Project Design a logic-gate combination for a given truth table
Practical List Demonstrate NOT, OR and AND gates using bells, cells and switches

CBSE Class 12 Physics 2027: Unit Wise Marks Weightage

The theory paper carries 70 marks across 9 units. Optics, Magnetism and Electrostatics together carry about 35 marks, which is half the paper. These unit marks come from secondary sources that report the 2025-26 pattern, and the 2026-27 curriculum keeps the same 70-mark theory paper.
