- Nature of faculty members I mean teachers are approachable
- The canteen has improved a lot over time. Earlier, the food quality was not as good, but after the new tender was given, the canteen started providing much better and hygienic food with good quality.
- The library is very helpful for studies as it provides a wide range of books. Since there is no single book for MSc, students refer to multiple books, and the library offers books from different authors, which makes studying easier and more effective.
Dislikes
- The college maintains cleanliness across the campus, and the washrooms are cleaned regularly. There is also scope for maintaining freshness and cleanliness standards more consistently in some areas to enhance the overall student experience.
- Another area that can be improved is campus cleanliness. Sometimes pet waste around the building areas is not cleaned promptly, and more regular cleaning would help maintain a cleaner and more comfortable campus environment.
Course Curriculum Overview
The main reason I chose this course was my interest in it. I have always been interested in learning about plants, studying them, and understanding them in depth, which motivated me to choose this stream. The teachers who taught me were experienced and supportive throughout the course. The lab sessions also provided valuable practical exposure. Overall, the syllabus was completed very well, and every topic was taught in detail and with proper understanding.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college fees are comparatively lower than many other colleges, making them affordable. The yearly fee for the Master of Science (Botany) program was ₹45,000, which comes to ₹22,500 per semester. The college also offers full scholarships for SC and ST students. Additionally, scholarship tests are organized through the MBA department, providing students with more opportunities for financial support.
Campus Life
The best part of my whole college experience was campus life. The college holds a lot of functions and events and now they have also introduced different clubs like the Rowdy Club, Dance Club and Singing Club. Other than this, students can participate in NSS and NCC activities. There are many sports activities also. One of my favourite experiences was during rainy season. When it rained heavily, the college would hold an impromptu rain dance session with music and students would have fun dancing together. It created a fun, memorable vibe on campus.
Admission
The first aspect was that it is close to my home, and the second aspect was its affordability. Compared to the other colleges I had considered, such as MVN University, Advance College, and NGF, MKM’s fees were more affordable. Along with lower fees, it also provides a good quality of education, so I felt it was the right choice.
Faculty
The teachers are so friendly and approachable. My experience with the faculty has been very positive and especially about Dr. Deepa from the Botany department. She is naturally very supportive and kind. Other faculty members from other departments like Zoology, Biotechnology, Chemistry are also very helpful and cooperative than her. There are 3 teachers in the Botany department and about 4-5 teachers in the Zoology department. All in all, I have a great experience with the faculty. They have always been ready to support and guide me whenever I asked for help.
Night Life
The cafeteria has improved a lot and now it is hygienic and good variety of food options. The library is well maintained and very helpful during the course for studies. The hostel rooms are clean, spacious and have basic facilities like almirah, table & chair. Hostel fee is around 7,000 per semester. Near the college students can visit cafes, bakeries, restaurants and a park to spend time and relax.
