Likes
- Library is just amazing. Its so enchanting and helps me to boost my focus.
- The beauty of the university has to be appreciated.
- Campus staff and Faculty is very encouraging and friendly.
Dislikes
- Due to campus location access to main market and Solan city is pretty limited.
- Some classrooms can't accommodate too much students.
- Girls to boys ratio is very high, girls are more in the university.
Course Curriculum Overview
- The curriculum is highly specialised and very much updated with all the current innovations and developments in respective fields. -It prepares us very well for a complete job-based environment but more specifically it has prepared me more for research and future studies. -Classes should be more detailed and exams should be more tough. In case of teaching methods I would love if teachers included some other approaches of assignments and class presentations, it's getting repetitive. -Exam timings are perfect, after some major event or holidays exams are conducted. Even after completing the class practicals.
Internships Opportunities
- A commerical laboratory inside the university known as SLS, has provided many UG research scholars internship opportunities in Quality control, management in financial marketing, Analytics etc with stipend of 3k. Also Companies like Cipla, Dabur and Patanjali have provided training courses for the university students.
Placement Experience
-From 7th Semester students are eligible for campus placements. -At least min 3 offers of placements are made each sem for final, I can't give out company names as it is confidential. Highest package in our dept was 8L and average is 3.5lpa. Students getting placed are 55% but maximum are approaching outer countries and masters degree for further studies. -I want to do Mtech in bioinformatics
Fees and Financial Aid
Year wise fees I paid for my course is 1lakh 44 thousand. Registration fees at my admission was 20000. There are currently no external changes that I had to pay or will pay during course completion only the Exam fees or event fees is excluded. I opted for merit based scholarship which gave me 35% fee waiver for my tution fee. I pay 72000 rs only for per sem. Other peers of mine have availed for 50% scholarship and fee waiver. This scholarship is carried over year wise only if I am able to get 85% marks per semester or 8.5 estimated CGPA. There are also separate scholarships like for sports quota, army servicemen based and first year merit based.
Campus Life
- Yes Moksh Fest is the name of annual fest and Glitch fest is the name of tech fest that takes place in March month. -The range of books and features of library are one to look out for. As online EBSCO reaserch platform is available for scientific literature review and for books... Even high quality international reference books are available at the library. Even then students can still file a request for a specific book. - Classrooms are equipped projectors and wifi also. -Various student clubs are available for freshers to join. The Animal lovers club, kavya club, chess club, katha fashion club, raag rang etc. all these clubs perform really well in all cultural events and fests of the university. People who participate in these clubs also get recognition certificates and impression chances for futute events out of university.
Admission
- As a medical student I did not apply for much colleges I only applied for agricultural College or Palampur University. I choose this college because admission process was simple and it was easily done. - I got rejected from Palampur University due to less mark merit for BVsc degree. -My college has simple eligibility criteria which is 12th based merit above 70% or JEE, NEET and CUET exams are also applicable for admission and a good rank in these exams can secure us good scholarships.
Faculty
-The faculty to student ratio is quite low. Faculty student interactions are quite positive and faculties are completely approachable. -Pankaj Sir, HOD Of School of bioengineering and food technology and all the library staff are very very effective in communication and insightful for all the queries. Dr. Prakash Chand, faculty of liberal arts is highly philosophical and a professional teacher who is like Taare Zameen par character. He is very uplifting and his way of thinking is beyond teaching but as of an author. -I did not like statistics teacher as he teaches less and expects more from students. Exams in the college are divided in three terms, In between them assignment and quizzes are also taken at a regular basis. Exams are pretty moderate, very few students are considered to be failing. The course curriculum is very relevant for further research and competitive exams. Teachers have taught me everything that is essential for my practical approach and examination approach.
Night Life
- In campus the night is completely serene and quiet. Library is available for night time studies and campus is fully abandoned by students. - gyms are open till 9 pm and after that even cafes and public areas start shutting down. -Locality is very safe too roam around as university has occupied a perfect location which separates it from local town and too much populace. - Famous hangout spots are Pine court, Main gate campus, Vrindavan garden above the library, Temple, Bridge ahead of main gate road.
