IISER B, The best research institute

To summarize, our institute is one of the best for the students who loves science and want to build a career in research. They are provided with every facility a student can get from a college. On the other hand if you want a quick job just after leaving, then this might not be the right place for you.

Course curriculam at IISER Bhopal is designed to enhance research mentality within students. It is not so heavy in the 1st year. But you have to study PCMB , Earth Science and Computer Science in the first year itself. 2nd year is pre major year. You have to study 3 subjects of your choice. 3rd year onwards, you can major in one subject and get your degree. In every semester we have two big exams Mid-Semester and End-semester. They carry 80% of the weightage. Rest is given to small class test and assignments.

Internship opportunities from IISER Bhopal are very good. You can spend your entire summer (3 months) in any of the IITs, IISERs or any other renowned research lab or abroad. During these two months you get to learn many new things and get the real feel of how research works in your field of interest. Expenses of Internship are paid by INSPIRE or KVPY if you have those scholarships.

There are many events. I) Annual Cultural Festival a.k.a. ENTHUZIA - two days long fest. Many competition and performance by college students are held. Also special guests are invited. II) Annual Science Fest a.k.a. SINGULARITY- various number of science activities and competitions are held. Also various events by EBSB(Ek Bharat Shrestha Varat) and all our clubs are organized. Various Lecture events by renowned professors are also organised every month. National Science Camp( Vijyoshi) also takes place every year.

For BS-MS fee structure is around ?40000. And mess fees are around ?3000 per month. You will also have expenses of ?1500 per month for transport and other food purposes. If you have KVPY or INSPIRE , then the fees are not that expensive.

We have mainly two Scholarship providers. Students who are admitted through KVPY channel get scholarship from KVPY. The amount of scholarship is ?80000 per year. ?60000 is annual grant and ?20000 is for internship purposes. Around 100 students get INSPIRE and there scholarship is similar to KVPY.

Lab facilities are of world class level. We have each apparatus used for different experiments. Sports facilities are also pretty good. We have coaches for each sports. We have our football and cricket ground, athletic ground, badminton courts, volleyball and tennis courts. Every year IISM is organized for competitions.

Alumni Network is pretty good. In our website alumni.iiserb.ac.in we have data for our alumni. Dean, Alumni and International Relations takes care of these greatly. He also publishes an weekly magazine for alumni.

Admission in IISERs has three routes. I)KVPY II)JEE Advanced III) SCB You have to crack one of those to get entry to IISER. I got entry via KVPY channel. KVPY is hosted by IISc. You can clear KVPY during class 11 ,12 or first year of graduation. SCB is entrance exam hosted by IISERs. You can apply via SCB after you finish your 12th.

Faculty members of IISER Bhopal are highly qualified and talented researchers. Most of them have done their PhD work from some renowned university. Everybody does not have a good teaching style. But they are always available in the office. You can easily approach them outside the class or meet them in their office. They are always ready to help you.
