Course Curriculum Overview

5

to be honest we have a modern type syllabus we dont have chemistry stuff in cse branch which is great but phys is there but still its not that hard,we will get DSA in 2nd sem which great cause most of clgs provide DSA in 2nd yr.again teaching methods are good some faculty maybe get u boring.exam are normal not that hard but u have to study to get a better placement.timing thing is so good like they take attendance seriously in time without mistakes.

Internships Opportunities

4

i dont have got into any internship but our senior got me in club activities that i am gaining much experiences and they also offer small amount of money like 10k 15k for the project. also if you want to do above that no one will stop you.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are like if u study its sure u will get a placement but if u got distracted and got in anything else so placement will not be urs.avg 6 8 Lpa,highest 55lpa but if u have heard of iter fraud news they just did fraud placements like by paying high amount of money to get in placement exam. many companies like TCS INFOSYS GOOGLE MICROSOFT ACCENTURE DELOITTE etc come every year. placement rate is 80 90%

Fees and Financial Aid

every year fees structure changes between 2-4%,for 2025 its per sem 147500 so like that total will be 12 lakhs(for cse core,ai ml,it,etc).there is no extra admission fees aur other charges.first they take 95k then 75k which will be the 1st sem then to 2nd sem 147500 like that. I dont opt hostel but i think their total fees will be 18-19 laks varies in rooms.if u score above 8 cgpa every yr u will get 80k off.

Campus Life

5

we have something 10+ clubs like dance singing drama art coding fashion designing, etc.we have many annual fest like technical which is called ROBO fest and tech fiesta unifests and many more.we do have a student portal where u can see ur attendance and admit card exam time tabel any many more extra.we have smart board of benq and big air conditional ventilation and podium. they conduct various sports activities and tournaments.overally student life is great until and unless u cant make frds.

Admission

i have got many options like KIIT,CENTURION,etc but i choose ITER SOA cause they provide better placements and their ROI is good like if u good in skills n study then sure u will get 15+lpa for sure.i dont got any rejection from any clg by the way most of faculty is IIT graduated.admission process is so simple, they ensure no students will faces problems, you have to score over 60%+ for eligible in this clg and they conduct their own exam called SAAT exam which if u got over 70+ u can easily get cse branches.overally its quite clean and nice admission process.

Faculty

5

every faculty is good and friendly not like old guy they are young and sweet. they supports us in various club activities.they have set time that perfectly that no class will be there without any faculty i mean every faculty has an assistant faculty,so every thing is fine u always feel its like college not school.to be honest i like our faculty advisor, she's so kind and sweet.maybe u can find some of them bad but its like 1% chance u will get bad faculty advisor.the conduct varios quizes and many task and assignment,we have mid sem and final sem for exam.its not that hard dont have to worry, students clear all task easily.

Interview Experience

4

there is no such things to attempt to get admission in this college.there will be only 2 method,1st direct admission which they take above 65+ percentile and the 2nd indirect which is through their exam SAAT exam in which u have to score 70+ percentile to get higher branch of engineering. So the SAAT exam conducted online with webcam and mic on so it will be little tough.there's a little cons that they literally give same percentile to more than 1 student.

Night Life

4

i am not hosteller but i have heard night life is great.it has gym, cafeteria garden with fountain and many sports facilities that u cant get bored. there is many option outside like mountanes and water bodies picnic spots, etc although its situated on food capital of bhubaneswar so u willl get many options and many restraurants near by

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
