Dislikes
- The campus although built good, gets a bit too crowded during exams and other gatherings, there are just too many students in a single building which becomes a hassle to manage
- The faculties are good, but there a select few who are not upto the mark and if u get unlucky and get assigned one of the not soo good faculty, good luck trying to sit through their classes
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum at VVCE is specifically designed for all branches. It has a good balance between theory and industry oriented learning. The availability of elective courses, active labs, strong placement focused training adds to the appeal of a top college. Overall the curriculum prepares students fairly well for real world applications and software roles in the current industry. The training and placement cell conducts regular mock interviews, workshops and coding sessions. There are a few areas that could use improvement like project based courses, frequent syllabus updates for fast changing domains like IT and more industry exposure to students would make learning more hands on. Exam frequency is typical like VTU colleges, there are two Sem exams in a year where in each semesters there are three internal tests, two lab internal assesments, Activity based assesments, Open ended experiments. While they arent too difficult, the exams do require steady preparation and consistent study routines.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like HP, Bosch, Cognizant, TCS, SAP labs visit here for internships and offer software engineering intern role for stipend of around 8k-30k for the duration mentioned by the ccompanies. Companies offfer projects like App development, website developers, Dev-ops etc.
Placement Experience
At VVCE, The Training and Placements (TAP) is quite active. the highest package is 41 LPA and the placement percentage is 70-80% for the students who meet the eligibility and training requirement. Average package is around 4-6 LPA Top recruiters include companies such as Accenture, Bosch, SAP labs, L&T, IBM, HP and others. Students are eligible for campus placement when they reach their final year of engineering and fulfil the TAP's criteria. Internships begin in 6th-7th semester for students who get selected. My plans after getting the degree is to get placed in a top compaany where i can level up my career and gain insights on the industry.
Fees and Financial Aid
I joined VVCE through COMEDK quota and I'm paying around 3.16 Lakh per year. I didnt avail any scholarship benefits or any category reservations. The detailed fee structure is Tuition Fee- 2,61,477 College Fee- 20,000 University Fee- 10,610 Career Guidance andd Skill labs- 15,000 Examination fee for two semesters- 5,000 Books and other expenses- 4,500 Total - 3,16,587 There are some of my friends who have joined from category reservations who are paying 80k yearly and have also availed scholarships from State scholarship portal by the government. VVCE also offers scholarships and fee waivers for students in need, there are many students who have availed these benefits. As for the management/donation fee, the initial deposit is 8Lakh and yearly fees is 3.4 Lakhs. The management quota fees have increased by a lot in a short amount of years.
Campus Life
My overall campus experience at vvce has been positive, especially when it comes to social life, student clubs and infrastucture that supports day to day learning. The college has a good atmosphere with the right balance between academics and extra curricular activities. The major annual event held in vvce is VIDYUTH, the annual celebration fest with major events held by top artists. The event adds a lot of energy to campus life. Library is well stocked and easily acessable. It offers a solid choice of engineering textbooks, project reports and journals. It is free of cost to students and makes it convenient for students to find materials to study. Classrooms are very modern, with projectors, smart boards and audio systems, making lectures more interesting. Labs are equipped with high end desktops and have the modern tools to run the latest apps. Sports are a strong part of campus life, tthe college offers facilities for cricket, basketball, badminton, table tennis, kabaddi. There is a huge sports complex which houses all the indoor sports and equipment. One of the best part is the student run clubs in vvce which are IEEE, NSS, NCC, Vectorflow, aspera etc. These clubs organise meetups, workshops, hackathons and cultural events. They make it easier for students to network and make new meaningful connections with people of similar mindset.
Admission
I had applied to around 4 colleges other than vvce 1. BMNIT (in bangalore) -- Although i initially liked this college and also got confirmed admission after registering in the college, i felt like the management fees were a bit too high for aiml which was 8 laks per year for four years which is a lot. 2. ATME (mysore) - This was my second option to go in mysore, the college and infrastructure was good but the placements were not too good and the locaation is too far away from the city centre. 3. VVIT (mysore) - I had enquired in this college but didnt like it too much because of the campus and the maanagement was not co-operative Overall i felt like VVCE was the best option considereing it was close to my home and also has strong reputation in mysore for being one of the top with decent placements and i also wanted to go through my comedk rankings and vvce was the best option according to my rank. The admission process for me was simple, once i was alloted this college in comedk, i had to pay a part of the fees and lock it and then go phyically to the college with the required documents and complete the regestration and pay the reamining fees. It was a smooth process for me personally.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is very strong in VVCE, it is around 1 faculty for 26 students, 1:25 ratio The faculties are very kind and will go through any doubts we have and aren't strict at all There are two sem exams in an academic year, they have gotten a bit too difficult from the past year since the implementation of software generated papers where the system generates question papar from the question bank. It has made it impossible to predict what type of questions might appear in the examinations. Students now have to study each and every corner of the module since there is no telling whether it'll be there in the paper ot not.
Night Life
Nightlife is pretty good near the college, it is peaceful and quiet like expected in mysore. Favourite hangout spot has to be CCD in the college campus, it is a peaceful place to be at and socialize when the syllabus haunts you yoo much. There is a gym which all students can access free of cost, canteens serve hygenic and nutritional food options, library timings are from 10 am to 7pm whiich makes it easier for students to study during after college hours. Hostel restricts students from going out after 7pm which is acceptable. College timing is from 8:30 am to 4pm. Famous hangout places near the college are Aaina cafe, Raju momos, Dominos, etc
