Course Curriculum Overview

5

I am pursuing B.COM and i am a first semester student at the college. i think my course is relevant and decided to go ahead with it is because it involves excercises of critical thinking, ethical awareness, discipline and business analytical skills.

Internships Opportunities

5

my college offers internships through its entrepreneurship development cell and the placement cell. There are alos various other events and initiatives taken up by different departments like initium which help in securing paid internships for the students depending on the program and organization.

Placement Experience

5

There is a placement cell club which functions in the college itself which is efficient in providing over 67 to 98% of students with placements. This percentage can vary for different years and different courses. The college has been successful in attracting top recruiters like deloitte, wipro, TCS, and leader companies from various other sectors. Packages vary significantly from 4 to 6 LPA up to 24LPA. After getting my degree i am planning to first make sure that i have completed my CA course that i am pursuing alongside. And then going ahead with either a job outside kolkata or open a business in kolkata itself.

as a b.com evening student of st.xaviers college , kolkata ; following is the fee structure that i have to comply with ; Rs.58500 to pe paid at the time of admission for the 1st installment of the 1st semester. the 2nd installment for 1st semester costs Rs. 32700. This is the fee structure for the 1st semester. It is inclusive of the fee for the library with e-resources facility and cyber fee. Campus Life

5

There are several events that happen in the campus all year along in fact, almost every other day some or the other seminar is being organised by any society. it may be a an informative seminar or a fun event involving events. All kinds of books are available in the library including curriculum-related books , professional corse- related books as well as books of famous authors and self-improvement books. The college class roomsa are equipped with high- technology equipments like projectors and both kind of boards i.e., green board and white board.

Admission

I had applied to christ college, bangalore and mount carmel college, bangalore before applying to this college. I got a confirmed admission into the mount carmel college and i did not give my exams for the christ college as i had already decided on going to st.xaviers as the dates for such exam approached. I chose this college because i had to pursue a professional course along side which st.xaviers caters more to as the curriculum and timings fir examinations are decided accordingly for it . To get admission in my college the admission procedure is; - filling the online application form available on the college website if the form is open at the time - upload the required documents - and then pay the refundable application fee online - an printout of application form and the fee payment reciept is to be kept - the selection process involves a merit- based assessment for the B.COM degree and may involve an entrance test and interview in case of other courses.

Faculty

5

the faculty to student ratio oof the college is 1:9 with a student count of 8614 and 365 faculty members as of december 2024. As a b.com student ; following are the faculty members i came across and became really fond of for the teaching techniques: - sukanya sarkel - rohan prasad gupta - koushik chatterjee Per semester there are only two exams. One are the mid-sems for 40 marks and there is the end-sem which is of 80 marks. Both these exams are considerably easy considering the ward has paid due attention in the classes and has attended them consistently. The resources for studying are also provided by the teacher right away through the LMS app.

Night Life

5

The college is located at the centre of the city hence it is surrounded by many famous and old food and hang-out places with affordable prices suitable for college students. There is also a chaat corner and an ice-cream stall withing the college campus itself servoing delicious food which saves the students from the hastle of roaming aorund in the scorching heat looking for good food. Apart from that some famous eateries around the college around are delights, express cafe, nandu's and vardhaan market which is a place full of street food stalls. the locality is safe to roam around at night because it is very lively.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is of course outdated. Teaching methods are old. No case studies, competitions or project of any sort is there in the curriculum. Although a project of 100 marks is there in the final sem, but I don't think that's enough. There is no practicality in the curriculum and usability in career. The syllabus really needs an uplifment.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is average , I chose this course because I wanted to do an honours degree and I'm from commerce background so my first pick was B.Com . They really put efforts to prepare students for well future , as I said earlier some teachers are genuinely very good helpful supporting and good at what they do . Something they need to approve is the 70% attendance criteria, I think they need to understand not every student is just persuing graduation they are doing some other courses or jobs etc so they can't maintain 70% attendance . The frequency of timing is average

Course Curriculum is Comprehensive, focused equally on Academics and Practical Exposure.. I chose because of that extra year of research I can choose to do in my final year (4th year) of graduation and I'll have an Hons. Degree at the end of 4th year of my college... Practical insights makes sure we are being trained to tackle practical world and academic knowledge ensures we are eligible to apply for further Education.. I will say more focus on Practical Exposure and a little extra focus on Sports May Take This Curriculum to a different level..
