Course Curriculum Overview

4

The Bcom curriculum is solid, with relevant topics like GST and Income Tax, but some textbooks are outdated. The curriculum prepares you well for real-world applications but could benefit from updates in finance and technology. Exams are regular and challenging, especially Income Tax Law and Practice, but difficulty is manageable.

Placement Experience

4

In our college, final-year students are eligile for campus placements. While i don't recall the specific companies that visited, one of my friends interviewed with Axis Bank and got selected with a package of around 2.4 lakh. The exact percentage of students are placed and details of average or highest packages are unclear to me, but the placements process provides opportunities of those actively seeking jobs. After completing my degree, I plan to pursue an independent career rather that seeking a traditioinal job placement.

Fees and Financial Aid

First year adimission : 7980 second and final year re-admission : 3001 Farewell fee in the final year : 500 Exam fee for every two semesters: 1500 No Lab or Additional Fees: Since I'm in the Bcom program, there are no lab or extra fees. Scholarships: National Scholarship Scheme : Available for students with 70% or above in 12th grade. State Governemnt Scholarships: Available for eligible students, particularly those from reserved categories.

Campus Life

4

The library has basic and outdated books, and the computer lab uses old software. Sports facilities for cricket and football are available, Which is greate for students engagement. I'm not aware of any student run clubs or groups. The college organizes annual and technical fastivals, though I'm unsure about the exact months they take place.

Admission

I applied to RMD Degree College, but got admitted to PN College in the second round. I choose PN College because it offer great facilities like sports, a library, scholarships, hostels and a low admission fee. The autonomous status and the convenient location also made it stand out. Other college didn't offer the same resources , which influenced my decision. The admission process is simple: you pay the fee online and submit the receipt at college. The eligibility requires 60% marks, and the cut-off is around 60%. The expericence was smooth and straightforward.

Faculty

5

Faculty is approachable, with a good student-to-teacher ratio. Professor Bamdev Mishra is a great for clear explanations and making complex topics easy to understand. The Bcom curriculum is relevant but could use updates. Exams are challenging especially Income Tax law and Practice, where almost 370 out of 400 students failed. The marking is fair, and most students pas with consistent effort.

Night Life

5

The college library closes at 4 PM, and the campus shuts down around 5PM. While I'm not sure about the hostel, the campus opens at 7 AM and closes by 5 PM. For late night hangout, students typically unwind by visiting nearby sports. There's a hill around 2 km away which is a peacefull place for a late stroll or to relax. As for safety, I'm not entirely sure about the locality at night, as i haven't spent much time there after hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum of B.Com under Sambalpur University covers important subjects like Accounting, Business Law, Economics, Management and Taxation which are essential for future studies and careers in finance or commerce. The structure is simple to follow and helps students build a good base in theory. Semester exams are conducted on time and the difficulty level is moderate. A student who consistently studies can score well without extreme pressure. However, there is a lack of practical exposure such as industry visits, internships or real-world business case studies. Also, subjects related to modern digital business trends like data analytics, advanced Excel, and GST practicals should be included to make students more job-ready. Overall, the curriculum is relevant but needs more updates to match the current professional requirements
