Course Curriculum Overview

5

As I have choosen for the Btech Computer Science the curriculum for this course is quite much reasonable and follows the general trend that most of the College follows. The Curriculum here really prepares you for the real world applications for example as In first year we have a subject called Universal Human Values which speceficially focuses on how is the character of a good student, what is the purpose of life, what is the real meanings of relationships and all and which is quite reasonable as it is something that is required where the students are facing problems in there day to day life. The are a lot of exams happening per semester like two surprise tests , two class tests, two assignments of each and every subject.

Internships Opportunities

4

I am in the first year of the collge so I do not know much about the internships although I get to know that college provide Internships from 3rd year either its paying to the student or just for the experience it depends on the studnet.

Placement Experience

1

As I am Currently In the first year of the college , I do not know much about the placements but there are a lot of placement drives happening in our college , you will become eligible to sit in campus placements from 4th year or from 7th semester. As much as I know most of the Students in our college got placed in respective companies. As much I think I am planning about taking a good and decent job in the reputed company , and then after some year of experience starting my own start-up.

Fees and Financial Aid

The yeraly course for the college is 138000 including hostel and mess fees, for btech computer science 4 Year program, The Registration Fees is Around 5000 Rupees and each semester you have to do registration of each subject which will cost around 1000-2000 rupees depending upon the number of subjects and the semester in which you are studying. There are no such fees besides from these , however there is an transport management system too of the college which if you want to avail cost some extra charges. The college also provide scholarships to students but not for General. its Likely for SC/ST/OBC candidates so I do not much about the scholarships provided by the college to these category students.

Campus Life

4

The Collge have its own annual fest known as GarimaaX , in which a wide variety of events happens like debate competitions, coding competitions , dance, song, comedy, basketbaal match, cricket match, running and a whole lot of other events. Also the college organizes its own tech carnival every year. While talking about the Library , it has a wide variety of boooks of every semester and curriculum and also they do provide journals. The Extracurricular Activites here are also a lot like Cricket, basketball, football etc. and also they have a very big playground to enjoy any type of sport. There are also a lot of clubs in our colleges like elite club, dance and drama clubm, coding club, photography club, NCC and NSS etc. which you can participate according to your wish.

Hostel Facilities

4

The Facilities provided in the room is quite much normal a simple room with a bathroom attached , with 4 Students in one room. It is very simple as that. However the meal taste mostly of the night is not that much tasty although the collge do provide a wide varity of foods with no repetition in a week. The Registration for the hostel is done together with the admission process .

Admission

This College is located 25 Km away from Bhubaneshwar, in the hills. As comapred to most of the colleges which are in the noisy places or the important services are not nearby . This College is just opposite of that , it is not that much noisy and still the important landmarks like hospitals, fire stations, police stations nearby. Moreover the Fees here is quite affordable as compared to other colleges which have a very high fees.

Faculty

5

The Fcaulty Members Here in the College are just awesome , They are well experienced having a good command over the subject . The Fcaulty to student ratio in the college is around 1:40 which is much acceptable . The Faculty and students relationship are stronger the Faculties here try to connect with the students try to understand their academic and non academic problems. Alll the faculties here are just awesome and there is no reason to dislike them.Every Semester There are a sequence of exams starting with Assignment1 Then Surprise Test 1 And then Class Test 1 and then Assignment 2 then Surprise Test 2 And then Class Test 2 and then Finally Semester Exams, All the exams difficulty here is easy to moderate.

Night Life

4

The College have its own gym , which is mostly for boys, Also the collge have its own cafteria , which is quite famous for their extra -ordinnary foods, also outside the college there is some extra grocery stores, food stalls, gym, barber shop at no distance. While for shopping you have to go 5 Kilometers through taxi away from the college. The hostel Closes at 8 PM in night which is why it is mostly difficult to go outside of the college in nights. While the most famous hangout place nearby to college is PURI where you can see the most famous Jaganath Puri Temple and more.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
