Course Curriculum Overview

5

The curriculum is very much helpful in real life, as this curriculum is professional course I opted for it.The curriculum not only teaches me about law but also different subjects of arts such as political sciences, sociology and economics which are very much handy in todays scenario. The curriculum could include Psychology which would have healped future lawyers. The areas of improvement can include teaching drafting early on that can make students well versed with real life works. We appear for semester exams once every 6 months.

Placement Experience

5

Students become eligible for campus placement from penultimate year which is 4 th year for law students. The companies which visited are TCS, Wipro, Cognizant, IBM, Microsoft, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini and Infinity Research. In 2024, the placement record is 97%, where average package was 6.5 lpa and highest package was 51 lpa. Im looking for a placemnt in a good law firm else practise at court.

Fees and Financial Aid

The students of B.A.,LL.B(Hons.) are required to pay 20000 Rs as admission fe, 10000 Rs. as caution money and a semester fee of Rs. 61,955 which includes 43369 Rs. Tution Fees and 18587 Rs. Term fees. Therefore in total 92400. after which the students are charged 61955 each semester. The fees of my batchmates of SC and ST are same as mine which is 61955 Rs. per semester. The college provides 10% scholarship to students with merit that is above 9 sgpa. Scholarships such as Swami Vivekananda Merit cum means scholarships are applicable.

Campus Life

4

The college organises several programs the AIU recently. The college participates in many intercollege events. The library is stacked with all necessary books and journals that can aid a student. All classes are equipped with a projector and white board which I feel is sufficient for educating the students. However some classrooms are not equipped with air conditioners which is hectic during summers. The college organizes several sports events excluding intercollege events. The college organizes football and cricket on a large scale.

Admission

I couldnt get into NUJS, which was my dream college for few marks in CLAT. however compared to other colleges SNU is strict in curriculum and the faculty is knowledgeable and helpful. Also the attendance criteria is not as solid compared to some private colleges, which is good because it helps law aspirants to go for regular interships and field works. The curriculum is hard but not a burden. I had confirmed admission in Amity University kolkata but I chose SNU because of the affordable fee structure and better education. I feel that in Amity the syllabus is slow and also attendance is very strict. Many subjects are meaningless and a burden for students. Also the methods of education in SNU is quite traditional which suits my taste. In amity there are not much holidays even in national holidays or pujas which is stressful to the minds of students specially those who come from outside the state.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio is around 17:1. There is a healthy friendly relationship between the faculty and students. The faculty is very interactive and ready to help all the time. Also the faculties are very responsive and easily accessible if required urgently. One of my favourite teachers is Somanjanha mam who is a faculty of Law in SNU. She encorages the students with a balance of friendliness and strictness in behaviour. As a student of Law I have to pass out 10 semesters along with class-tests of each subject and continuous assesment assignments. The exams are on a hard level that focuses on building critical thinking ability of students. Around 5 percent of students fail to clear the exams, most of which are insincere studnets. Despite the exams being hard the quality teaching overcomes the hardness. The exams are directly linked to the curriculum.

Night Life

3

The college has an well equipped gym, multiple food court offereing variety of food choices and a cafeteria. The hostels of the college are not inside the campus but around biswabangla. Enough freedom is provided to the students however being strict. The college opens in 8 am and closes around 5:30 pm but the cafeteria remains open until 8 and students can stay inside the campus for necessary works. The college is in a safe location even at night. The college is decorated with ornamental flowers and provides an aesthetic atmosphere. My favourite hangout places are the ampitheatre.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'd say the BBA LLB curriculam si quite relevent and comprehensive. the blend of business management and legal studies really made me choose this course because it gives a holistic understanding of both fields. The curriculum is pretty practical and prepares us well for real- world applications like internships and moot courts and also sets a strong foundation dor further studies in law. In term of Imporvements i think the curruculum could benefit from more interactive workshops and practical training sessions and somtimes a bit more hands on experience and indusry exposure help bridge the gap between thoery and practice. Regarding exams, I find the frequency and timing are well balanced. the semester exams come at a good pace and whike some subjects can be challenging they are definately manageable with consisnent study.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In my collage courses curriculum conduct by Calcutta university, every collage who affiliated with Calcutta university follow Calcutta university curriculum. I choosen BA LLB because in ba llb every semester you learn new law subject and they help you better understand because you have five year times you can learn every law subject very breifly way. I think the curriculum of my law subject is enough to prepare me for real world application because you read every law subject who is important for your real world experience that is the reason i choose this course. I think they need to change repetive topic in semester because of tenure of course i repeated few topic of my subject i think they need to change the few topic of subject they are so repeated. Every year two semester exam i give and semester season is june and December , in june semester exam student have very less time to prepare for exam i think this is a difficult for students for prepare exam in a short time.

Placement Experience:

Number of students who have been placed is far less than what it should be ideally. Kolkata is a paradise for law practice as it is the largest city of India and lawyers have always been in demand here. Still only 30% of the students are placed here and that's a big issue considering the name of our college.

The main thing that I love about the curriculum is that we need to study in depth. Our syllabus contains most basic to really professional level stuff which really help us prepare for real life experiences and further academic pursuits. The only change i would like is more practical experiences that would be helpful.
