Course Curriculum Overview

4

I always wanted to work on medical field so I chose this degree for myself. The curriculum and the college really prepare you for the world . I was an extremely introvert before joining college but now I can even make a peep talk to unknown person. College really helped me grow out of my comfort zone. The course is on 4 years, 3 years of college and one year of internship. During second and third years we are given hospital posting of 3-6 months where we learn about refraction and different tests and their importance to make a diagnosis. There is only 1 university exam per year during college.

Internships Opportunities

5

During an year of internship we are supposed to learn all about refraction, retinoscopy, diagnostic, opticals , medicine and eye drops and also make a research paper. There is no stipend in most of the hospital during internship. You can get stipend during fellowship but not during internship. You have to complete your every day duty of 8-9 hours. You cannot apply for jobs during internship period.

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid 6Lakhs in total for a 3year course,it includes academic fees, hostel fees , admission fees, registration fees and lab fees. We need to pay extra for exams fees before university exam . All of my batchmate had same package. Package for nursing and physiotherapy was different from ours. Also they keep updating fees every year .You can apply for scholarship if you have one . I remember some of our batch mate paying 40k per year because of their scholarship .

Campus Life

5

Every festival you can see on calendar is celebrated. There are fests during which you can show your traditions and foods. There are also sports week ,fashion week, freshers , college festival (harshotsav)etc. You can get books related to the subject and also facility of digital library so that it is easier to source out study material. Student has their own social group made up of their region and state. They help juniors to adapt and introduce to students from other states.

Hostel Facilities

3

For the first year you get a room with attached washroom and you can choose the number of students you want to share a room with, you get the room accordingly . Two sharing are a bit expensive as compared to 4 and more than 4 sharing are comparatively cheap. From second year onwards you have to use common bathroom if you are not in private room . Its all about your choice , how much you are willing to pay for your comfort. Food is definitely not for northern pallette. They add tamarind in every curry which I hated the most. Student from northern region will definitely give up on hostel food .Since it is located in rural area ,the rent is cheap as compared to rent in city.

Admission

I applied only for my college through an agent . The parameters for my admission was 55 percentage in PCB .Compared to different colleges we were given less opportunity to interact with other colleges. Since we had lesser students than bigger colleges we had to miss out on a lot of opportunity. I hope management will take better care of it. Admission process was smooth. We had to give a copy of our documents like adhar ,10 and 12 result, transfer certificate, pass photos etc . We also had to pay admission fees to book our seat so that it could not be taken by someone else.

Faculty

4

Our Allied health science class had student from various courses together as one batch ,so we had 6/30 student pursuing optometry. We had two teachers for optometry subject and subject wise teacher for common subject like anatomy , physiology etc.Pravin Sir ,our class was my favourite faculty because he was the type of teacher who would push you till you make it.He really went to great lengths to help us, he conducted regular test and also pre-exam.There is no particular faculty whom I disliked because we were treated really well because we were from different state and also they were big fan of my hometown. There are around 4 internal exam every year and regular class test. Our internal's marks were calculated and sent to university.Any paper will be difficult if you didn't prepare for it but as far as I know the paper were from medium to difficult level . Everyone who prepared cleared the exam but those who took college for granted didn't clear any of the subjects. The curriculum is very much relevant to our courses, they regularly arrange CME's , quizzes and tests.

Night Life

2

I will be very clear, there is no night life in campus . Maybe it is because the college is in rural area . Girls hostel is more strict. We were only given monthly outing with hostel warden and hospital visits if necessary. You can go to MES for dinner and go back to your hostel room sharply at 8:30 PM. You can also rent a room or stay in PG if you cannot stay in hostel ,its upto your and your parents choice.

Placement Experience:

Placements in our college are available, but they are average and not very high level. The college conducts campus placement for our course, mainly in hospitals and related healthcare sectors. Many students get placed through college, but package is usually basic or entry-level. It is good for starting career and gaining experience.
