What Students Say
Likes
- The campus was not big enough so departments were not too far away from each other. We could just walk around the campus with friends or alone. The campus was beautiful with a lake where we could just sit at the banks and enjoy the summer under shade
- The teachers were very friendly and talented. They are helpful and can cope up with students easily
- The library was the best place in the university where there was everything one could find.
Dislikes
- There were no sporting events conducted and I recommend sports lovers to not go there.
- The boys hostel was poorly managed. There were always complaints regarding the food and other endeavours.
- The campus offers no placements for this department and also no internships.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was expanded into three major disciplines namely physical, organic and inorganic chemistry. One paper on computer skill and one on statistics was included on the first semester and on second and third semester, we were enrolled on NPTEL courses. I think some papers on mathematics and physics should also be added as electives for further broadening of concepts.
Fees and Financial Aid
First semester admission fees was around 6000 rupees. That included everything. Then there was exam form which had to be submitted before the semester exam and it costs around 1000 rupees. Scholarships that were available were NSP that was merit based
Campus Life
The campus life was good and programmes were being conducted quite often on the auditorium. The freshers programmes including general and of other ethnicity was a joy to attend. There also was an open hall where open discussions and fun events were being conducted.
Admission
The reason I joined this university is that after graduation I just wanted to get out of my town to enjoy some freedom. I gave CUET PG exam and after the results I had applied for this university. My name was on the first merit list and I was here.
Faculty
Considering department of chemistry, there were around 8 faculty members and students were around 80 including students of two semesters and research scholars. The professors are approachable and are open to discussions. During the mid semester, sessional exams were conducted of 20 to 30 marks depending on the professor and then the end sem exam. The exam level was easy. Nearly all were able to clear the exams and the curriculum is entirely course oriented.
Night Life
After the classes, we mostly used to hangout around the lakeside or in the library. At evenings friends would gather around a cafe near the library and hang out. The library closed off at 10pm and with it the entire campus would shut off. Outside the campus there were numerous hangout spots including bakerys and tea stalls, etc. The locality is extremely safe to roam around at night with no fear.
