Course Curriculum Overview

5

I was very passionate about entering the medical field quite early in my life, so I knew what I had to do when I was in school. Medical field is a very challenging area to choose and the work life balance is not as good as other professions. However, it is very engaging and interesting for people who are actually interested in the subject. However, one cannot practice medicine after finishing MBBS because of the increasing competition, so he has to do PG course in order to be more approachable for the patients as well as to serve better in the specific field. The course curriculum is start in a well planned manner and the portions are completed ahead of time so that students have around 1 to 1.5 months of study break before the university exams every year. So, along with the exams that take place throughout the year, students will also have ample time to prepare for their exams in their own way preferred.

Internships Opportunities

5

The college does not offer internship options outside the hospital. However, the MBBS curriculum necessitates students to complete an internship for a period of one year after completing the final year in order to be eligible to get the registration number and graduate from the college within MBBS degree. so every student after completing four years of medicine have to undergo one year of internship within the college during which they will have hands on experience in dealing with patients as well as to make decisions regarding minor matters. Students will also be required to do 24 hour shifts in certain departments, and once the student finishes the internship program successfully, he or she gets the MBBS degree. so this is a very good opportunity for students to get hands on experience. However, being a private institution, the patient flow as well as the ability of students to perform procedures on the patient is not as good as a government institution, however, it is not bad either.

Fees and Financial Aid

I pay rupees 4,50,000 per year in government quota, but the fees varies a few thousand rupees every year throughout your course. This is the fee I will be paying for four years after which I will have my internship program for which I do not have to pay any fee. This program will last for a year. This fee includes the admission fee development fees, lab fees and any other fees. However, if you would like to opt for hostel services, you have to pay around two lakh per year. My batch mates who have joined the college through management quota, have to pay 13,00,000 rupees per year. In case you join through NRI quota, the fees goes up to twenty five lakh rupees per year. In order to join the college through government quota, you have to secure better marks to get a good rank in the all India counselling and as the rank get lower students are allotted seats in the management quota after the government quota seats are filled. There aren't any scholarships as such, but after joining the college. In case you want to do research, you can get scholarship from ICMR or college scholarships, which you can use to perform your research. Many students opt for this method to get scholarship.

Campus Life

4

The college conducts culturals, which is an intra College cultural festival that happens over a span of a week during which students are allowed to participate in multiple events like dancing, singing, Ramp walk, et cetera. Students are allowed to choose the event in which they participate and competition is amongst the batches of different years within the MBBS curriculum. Apart from that the college also conducts intra College sports event every year conducted by the final year students in which students of different batches compete against each other and finally win the overall trophy. The college also offers multiple other events and technical festivals, which are conducted through the respective clubs, in the college like literature, club book, club, et cetera The college has a central library with thousands of books and research and thesis papers of postgraduate students, which are available for students to access at any time. The college also has a reading hall where students can take their own books and read. The library also has computer facilities to access medical journals and other researches online. The classrooms are well equipped with centralised monitor and air-conditioning. The seating is very well planned and each class accommodates 250 students. There are various student run clubs in the college like literature club book, club, finance club, et cetera, for which the representatives nominated every year by the students. They conduct various interesting events throughout the year in which students can participate and get certificates if they win.

Admission

In addition to PSG I also applied to Coimbatore medical College, but I was not allotted to see based on the counselling process and my rank. Since I did not want to leave my city, I only applied to a limited number of colleges. Moreover, PSG is a prestigious institute known throughout the country. The admission process is quite straightforward. Once you write the NEET exam and you get admitted to the college, which happens through the all India counselling and the state counselling process, YOU TAKE THE ALLOTMENT LETTER TO THE COLLEGE FOR ADMISSION. AFTER THAT, YOU HAVE TO UNDERGO GENERAL PHYSICAL EXAMINATION TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE ELIGIBLE TO TAKE THE COURSE AND THEN YOU DO THE FEE PAYMENT. YOU ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO SUBMIT A FEW DOCUMENTS TO THE COLLEGE ADMINISTRATION, WHICH WILL BE STORED AS PROOF OF YOUR STUDYING THERE. THE ADMISSION EXPERIENCE WAS QUITE EASY and once you pay the fee, you get the receipt. Make sure to keep it safe for future reference.

Faculty

4

There are faculty members in each department, and since it is a private institution, the faculties are always approachable. They are ready to clear your doubts and help you at any point of time. They are also very helpful in case of research opportunities for which you have to perform research under the guidance of professors. Every year, there are multiple format assessment exams as well as internal assessment exams to make sure the subject is understood well and to train students in getting ready for the final university exam. The formative assessment exams happen every other week. The internal assessment exams happen once in two or three months, However, sometimes these exams are not conducted in the university exam format. The final university exam every year is conducted in the college exam hall, which makes it easier to face the exam without anxiety.

Night Life

4

The college has a recently renovated gym which is available for all students in the mornings and evenings for which they have to pay a certain amount of fee. It can be accessed by both boys and girls. It has multiple equipments which are recently furnished. The hostels are separate for girls and boys, and each hostel has separate blocks. The rooms are single with attached washrooms. The hostel mess is right outside the hostel and it provides breakfast lunch, dinner and snacks. The hostel has curfew timings for girls which gets quite lenient as you progressed through your college. There are multiple hangout places within and around the college since it is located in quite a prime area. The college has a canteen with various food options, and there are also various restaurants and malls right outside the college and walkable distance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It deals with patient care and clinical diagnosis along with hands on training the influenced my decision to take up this course. Through ward postings, history taking and case discussion it prepares me well for my PG exams and further future pursuits. Skill based learning should be emphasised more along with small group teaching. Sometimes the close spacing of exams can be very stressful. Difficulty level is appropriate.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course is very challenging obviously as we're studying to become doctors. it could've been better by increasing the duration of the course. our first year/ semester instead of it being for 12 months was only of 9-10 months so our portions are being pushed a little. it happened due the scam etc around neet and our course start date was pushed. the course could be made easier by increasing the duration of the course. we have exams every week which does make it easier to keep up with the portions but makes it too stressful for us. maybe instead of keeping exams on monday they could change it to saturday so we can relax and be free on sundays.
