GDC ANANTNAG: A TRUE MYTH

I am pursuing B.A in Geography, I always wanted to learn about physical and human geography. The curriculum helps me in getting knowledge about the things I always wanted to get and helps me to know how geography is connected to other fields like science. I feel like the improvements should be done for practicals in real life rather than in classroom which is lacking in our college. I feel like timing of exams is overall good ,exams are being held after every 6 months and also the level of exams are not too difficult .

I am currently pursuing three year bachelor's degree in Geography.At the time of admission I paid Rs 8500 for 1 year which includes examination fee, laboratory fee, registration fees, Picnic fee, Card fee etc.The fee varies from department to department like for a BCA student it is Rs 16000 for 1 year and for science students it is Rs 12000. College also provides scholarships like NSP, no fee for children of matrys etc.Tge maximum scholarship provided by NSP is about Rs 10000.

Our college is also known for its extracurricular activities. It often held programs on various occasions. As I already mentioned there is central library present where you can find every book related to your course and you can also get daily newspapers there. College also issues books to the students for the period of 15 days. College is having smartboards in every classroom and well furnished labs whether computer lab or science lab. College also participate in various sports events all over the country. Recently few of the students got selected from our college to play at national level that shows the platform provided to them by college.

Government degree college anantnag is the oldest college of our area where every basic facilities are available. I didn't apply for any other college because this is considered as the 4th best colleges in the region and the courses offered here are nowhere available in my area. The college's provides admission on the basis of CUET score .Overall the cutoff to get admission here is not too high. Student's can also get admitted here on the basis of marks of class 12th only after when all the CUET seats are filled.

As for as faculty members are concerned I can provide you only about my department.In my department there are about 7 professor's. Relationship between students and faculty members overall are friendly.Honestly speaking ,we didn't feel they are different from us.Mr rafi sir, one of my favourites in my department, I like the way he teaches, the way he interacts with students during class, he didn't leave the class untill all the students understand, he always tries to teach us in our native language so that we can understand it better. I didn't dislike any of the faculty member in my college everyone tries their best in their own way. As for as exam's are concerned, exams are conducted after every 6 months and the level are exams are moderate. The pass percentage in our college is about 25-30% this is because Students taking exams easy and later find it difficult to pass the exam.

The college is having their own gym but with damaged equipments, there is only one cafe in our college that is also not too good, library is too good where we can find every book according to our curriculum. College is having their own hostel I never visited there but once I heard from a friend that the hostel is good for stay. The college campus is open between 9 am to 4 pm. Our college is located in a beautiful place where students can roam all the night because of outside lighting etc
