Course Curriculum Overview

5

The main aspect that influenced my decision was my cousin who also studied hotel management. The IHM kolkata's curriculam does not only includes theroy knowledge it mainly focus on practical knowled of the industry. For the first year of the college we studied about the hotel managment and the second year we spent 04 month in idustrial training to gain the understanding of how it actually works. The exams were perfectly planned and we were given enough time to prepare for it. Overall the course the well planed.

Internships Opportunities

5

All major hotels in Kolkata offered us internship. We had to clear GD and interview to get selected for internship. I got an internship at ITC Kolkata and my stipen was INR 1000/- which was highest amount of stipen given by any company.

Placement Experience

5

The campus selection starts from 05th sem onwards. Lots of companies visit some are:- Taj, Oberios, Leela, HHI, ITC, Dominoes, Pizza Hut, CCD, Starbucks, Fairmont etc. I dont remeber the highest package amount but it was around 30k. 95% students got placement and for those who had difficulty getting placed the faculties would help them find internship or job through their reference. I completed my degree back in 2013 and got placement through the college and started working.

Enrollment fee and Admission fee is one time payment only.

Campus Life

5

Gourmet Night was our annual feast where lots of guest were invited along with IHM alumnies, its held during December. We had a Library with lots of books. The college provided uniforms and tool kits.

Hostel Facilities

5

Our hostel room had a bed, 01 cupboard and 01 study table. The meal quality was good and the menu was decided by us. Registration process was simple and it can be done at the time of admission. The hostel rent was included in the college fee but we had to pay INR 1000/- extra every month for the meals at hostel.

Admission

In order to take admission in any IHM we need to give JEE exam for Hotel Managment and depending on your rank they allow you to choose the college of your liking. E.g My All india rank was 803 which allowed me to choose from top seven colloges of IHM. I opted for Kolkata as it was close to my hometown. I never applied to any other college, i was focused on getting into IHM and I did on my first try.

Faculty

5

We were a large batch of 300 students and were divided in 4 sections. For Bsc programme we have 04 major subject and 03 addtional subjects. For each subject we had 03 Faculties. All the faculties were helpfull and very approcahble. My absolute fav faculty was Ms. Suchi Gothi (Front Office), Ms. Pooja Biswas (Housekeeping), Ms. Rita Mitra ( Housekeeping), Mr. Shane Joseph ( Food Service), Ms. Linzi Sarkar (Food Service), Mr. Subhadip Saha (Bakery), Mr. Bonophool Banerjee (Kitchen). Every faculty at IHM Kolkata was lovely and helped whenever it was required. We had exams every end of the semester which was very relevant and easy ( If you studied well). As far as i remember there was a drop of aproxx 50 students at the end of 1st year, few failed and few left because they didnot liked it. The course curriculam is very relevant and up to date in accord with the Industry.

Interview Experience

5

In order to get admission in any IHM the students need to clear an entrance exam which is call JEE and once selected in that then you can apply for the college. There are no GD and interview only the entrance exam.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because this is the only entrance exam that I have cleared. Faculty: student ratio is well every subject has more than 3 or 4 teachers. All teachers have their master's degrees and their teaching style is very friendly. Each semester of 6 months after 3 months there is a midterm exam and after 6 months/ each semester there is end term exam. It is not difficult to pass because all the questions were asked from the syllabus.
