Likes

Small campus makes a better bonding among other students and strong alumni
Campus is near Ernakulam town, which makes easier access on everything
Different clubs and cells are there to provide huge exposure to students

Dislikes

Womens hostel is a bit far from college, which makes tougher to go back and eat food during lunch break.
Washrooms are not so clean, especially the old building ones
not so spacious compared to other colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview

Computer Science engineering provides better jobs at current scenario. At first year all the branches have same subjects. Most of the subjects in first year is linked to what we studied before. Practical knowldge is less provided.

Class Size: 74Course Fees: INR 74000 per year

Internships Opportunities

ZOHO, Nvidia, Oracle, IBM, Red bus are some among the companies that provides interships. Oracle has given an offer of 50000. And choosen one perosn from CSE department. Codeing round is main task. Later interviews are conducted.

Placement Experience

Campus placement startes from semester 6 onwards. From S5 there will be interships provided, but only limited seats available. Highest package offered last year was 55CTC fro two students. Before that 33 CTC was the highest. Most of students from cse gets placed.

Campus Life

Campus gives a good exposure to students. Cells like IEDC, FOSSMEC, Tinkerhub provides technical knowledge and contects events frequently . NSS, Bhoomithraseena, Thanal are Clubs focussing on Social Service. Arts and Sports are contected yearly. 3/4 of thr month will be taken for practising and all.

Hostel Facilities

Small room attached and non attached washrooms available. fee of 7000 per month. Reduces to 5500 during vacations. Vog and Non veg meals and available. Friendly atmostphere. No raging issure is seen at the hostel. Rate is high compared to hostels

Hostel Fee: INR 84000 per year

Admission

Govt Model Engineering College provides better placemnents better internships espcially for CSE . Admission is throung the rank from KEAM exam. The exam is based on Maths, Physics and Chemistry from 11th and 12th NCERT. The college has really small campus compared to other colleges. But the performance of students re very good.

Faculty

Each faculty has their own rooms. There is no civil engnineering. Rare courses like Biomedical and EV courses are available here. most of the students clear their exams from cs . other branches fail to clear more exams two internal exam and one semester exam for each semester.

Placement Experience:

Placements cells are supportive in terms of networking with different companies and are readily active for the students competing in getting internships and placements. The college has a tie up with different companies like Infosys , Wipro , Deloitte , IBM , NVIDIA , Deshaw Private Limited etc. Students become eligible from semester 5 onwards for on campus placements. The offers made by these companies are 8 LPA to 9 LPA by deloitte , innfosys , and IBM but the highest package is being offered by Deshaw and NVIDIA that is 60 LPA and 47 LPA. The average package is around 11 LPA and the percentage of students getting placed are above 80%. My plan after getting the degree is to work for an IT Company to get the hands on knowledge about what the current technologies demand and get experienced in that and work further upon it.

Placement Experience:

From the semester 7 onwards the placement interview will begin.The company's like Infosys,Sutherland etc.But if we are doing externally that is also good.I'm planning on improving my skills first and then going abroad. The average package available would be 4 lakh per annum.

Experience as a first year student at NIT calicut

Placement Experience:

Here we recieve a really high number of offers this year it was around 970, The highest package received this year was 44.42 lpa and average was around 12 lpa Accenture, Bharat electronics limited are few of the top hirers, intel and nvidia also hire from here they are more relevant for ece students The percentage of students getting placed is 81% I will most probably try for a direct placement, I'm not thinking about higher studies(MTECH)after UG but that might change in the future

Placement Experience:

The placement department in our college is great and is always trying to bring good companies to the college. The placement training starts from semester 7. Our top recruiter include Infosys, TCS, Wipro, NocoBD, Delloite, etc. and our mechanical, civil, EEE,ECE all got placements with avg of 4lpa.The highest package where 12 Lpa for SAP. My plans is to get a good job and lead a stable life.

MEC Thrikkakkara: Strong Academics and Placements, but Room for Infrastructure Growth

My cousin studied here few years back and is now working a top tech company.I applied for Cs in MSRIT and AMRITA,but the fee structure over there is too high(around 3-4 lakh per year).Here overall fee amount is equivalent the yearly fee.To get admission in MEC,a person needs to write keam exam .Three phases of allotment are held in here.At the beginning of all allotment,we could change our preferences.For CSE BATCH,CUTOFF RANK FOR merit is around 2k and Management around 3.5k .For CSBS it's around 3k for Merit and 7-8k for management....Read More

Good for social life but very minimal infrastructure and facilities

The reason I chose this college over other options were due to the prime location in which it is present and due to the city it is present in . MEC is renowned for the placement opportunities available in this college and is placed in the top 3 colleges in Kerala in terms of placemenets . The admission is based on the student's KEAM rank and this rank decides whether you get the Merit seat or management seat . For others you also have an NRI seat .
