What Students Say
Likes
- Our faculty is great. Teachers take extra care for the students. They also arrange special classes for the students who are lacking the interview and communication skill. They also give extra information about the subjects and toics of Dairy Techno.
- After every completion of two semesters i.e. after completion of 1 yr. go to field visit that that is rural dairy work experience program in which we get to learn about the Ground Zero milk procurement to how the milk is transported to the industry.
- We've all laboratory facilities for the milk testing and our course related practical facilities are great. Special arrangements for making dairy products in our own for understanding of large scale production is facilitated by our own student dairy.
Dislikes
- The laboratory facilities can be enhanced more
- The student strength holding capacity is less. That is the sitting capacity and the facility for a student for gaining knowledge is limited as our sitting capacity is less
- The placement package is on an average low.
Course Curriculum Overview
The circulum that is Dairy Technology is an thriving industry and there is limited colleges in India which means that the number of students studying in this specific course is limited so it inhensis or increases that chances or possibilities of getting a job in India there many Industries with renowned brand name like Amul, Red cow, Metro Dairy, Mother Dairy, Arun are present which give lucrative packages for the daairy Technologist. By seeing the future aspects and possibilities I have choose the course. We go to industry visit where we see on ground how the machines are working and milk transportation from farmers to the industry and from the industry to the market which gives are real world application or further academic persuits. Focusing on more practical and industrial application can be an area of improvements in the course circular and teaching through smart boards and laptops can be an improvement in teaching methods. On an approx after every 2 and 2½ months we have a exam.
Placement Experience
After 6th semester student become eligible for the campus placements. Amul(GCMF) , Mother Dairy, Vidya Dairy, Bhagirathi cooperative, Wamul, ITC are the company's visited and they provide good packages according to the students work in interview. After getting the degree I would pursue my hair studies in Mtech Food Technology from IIT or go to MBA course from IIM. My main goal is to get NDRI National Dairy Research Institute which is top institute for imparting dairy and veterinary courses for MTech Dairy Technology. 70 to 80% of the students are being placed and the packages very from 20 lakh per anum to 40 lakh per annum. After getting BTech degree most of the students preferred to go for higher studies and job. Research line is open for our course. Most girls prefer higher studies and research line and most boys prefer for job.
Fees and Financial Aid
FEE Our every semester course fee is ? 3710 /- . That is in BTech course we have 8 semesters so it is 3710 x 8 which is equal to Rupees 29,680 /- . There is no other fees required. SCHOLARSHIP We definitely get scholarship We have 1. Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means scholarship ?60,000 /- 2. Our university scholarship 3. Campus Life
In our college there is student union not a political Union but the head of the student union member are the first and the second tankers of each years that is from 1st year, 2nd year, third year and 4th year and Mtech 1st year and 2nd year. Only the top rankers are eligible for becoming a member of the student union. It's itself a good initiative for promoting a healthy and friendly campus life and bonding between seniors, juniors and teachers. Vishwakarma puja, Saraswati Puja, Reunion, Independence Day celebration, NSS day celebration,Teachers Day celebration, Children's day celebration, Freshers are few festivals that are held in our campus. Of them reunion and Vishwakarma puja are two biggest celebrations that are being done with the help of friendly coordination between teachers and student , our ex seniors and juniors and faculty members. Inter year and Inter University football tournament and Cricket tournament are being held in our campus.
Admission
I choose the college because Dairy Technology is itself a thriving course and career and our university ranks second among all dairy universities. It also provides an satisfaction to study in Biology stream who cannot clear Neet exam. This university also provide free transport facility that isthrough its own University Bus from Kanchrapa station (nearest station) Mohanpur campus and from Belgachia University Campus to Mohanpur campus. Comparatively it also gives a well to do packages. The political intervention or political choas are not present which is a great problem to most of the universities in West Bengal and in India. I was also eligible to top University and colleges in West Bengal. In order to get admission in our university for 1. BTech Dairy Technology - West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) (Rank less than 10,000) 2. Veterinary - Neet examination 3. Fishery - Higher Secondary examination above 95% marks in the examination for general category
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 13:2 and the faculty to student relationships ship is great whenever we face any problem we are allow to go to the teachers room and the guide through our problem so they are really approachable. Sukumar De is an renowned Dairy technologist, who was an ex student and its professor in our University, whose book is studied in nationwide in most of the Dairy Technology colleges. Dr Surajit Mondal is and renowned scientist who is an present faculty in the department of dairy microbiology who is doing research with starter cultures. I personally don't like any faculty member but it depends on students to students. We have eight semesters. In each semester we have 1 midterm or internal exam and one external exam. So we have 8 x 2 that is equal to 16 exams and now it depends upon teachers to teachers who can take class test of maximum 30 marks. But the class test numbers are not added in our internal or external marks. Not more than 20% student fail.
