Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

1) I have always admired doctors and their passion to save lives. I think this profession makes more difference than any other. It is a privilege to study this course and the wholesome , rewarding nature of the profession has a major influence on me. 2) The curriculum is competence based and it makes you competent enough to tackle real life medical problems. The vast opd and ipd aid in the learning. 3) the student faculty ratio is too much. Reading from presentations can sometimes be boring. The old chalk and duster or new digital boards and stylus should make a comeback. 4) The frequency of exams is perfect without making the schedule too hectic and giving students enough time to prepare. Moderate level of difficulty suitable for everyone

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Compulsary 1 yr internship in the pgims hospital that pays 24k/ month with Compulsary rural postings Internship is a part of the mbbs course and every student has to complete an year, essentially train under supervision

Fees and Financial Aid

No such scholarship as per my information but fees can be given through student loans. Although in government medical colleges, students who get distinction are provided with scholarships, I have not heard so in my college yet. Fee structure is 80000 for first year and 10% increment every yr for four years +54000/yr fees in internship with a stipend of 24k every month. Hostel fees is 20k to 23k Fees for examination every yr accounts to about 1100/yr and varies category wise

Campus Life

3.5

Annual fest is held along with the annual conference in fall months. Other festivities like diwali, holi and others are celebrated timely. Sports meet happens around the same time ( aug to oct) Projectors and digital boards have been installed in the LT. There are simulation models but tbh not very advanced in terms of ug learning A vast playground with cricket pitch, football nets, volley net, tennis court, basketball court and badminton court Cultural activities according to the events and fest

Hostel Facilities

2

Hostel is the only problem here. There are two major hostels for girls. One for first yr exclusively which is arguably the better one with enough space in the room and adequate supplies Hostels then degrade with very little personal space in twin sharing, shared table, shared almirah and all. Meal is cooked in a cooperative mess amnaged by students so the food is good. Menu is fixed tho. Hostels can only be opted for during the annual fees submission and they are alloted yearly. Hostels are inside the campus making them safe and easy to reach

Admission

I applied to all the government medical colleges of Haryana, chose this college because of the high reputation, abundant opd and decades old legacy! It is undisputed that pgims is the best college of haryana , however one can choose newer colleges for better infrastructure. Admission into the college is based on the neet ug counseling, both state and aiq Neet is the only acceptable exam Cutoff varies yearly, however upto 9k air in state quota and 3k in aiq can get you into this college. Overall Admission process is frankly cumbersome and tiring but it'll be worth it.

Faculty

4

The faculty to student ratio for lectures is 1:250 which makes it cumbersome to form a one to one relationship in class but during clinical postings and practicals, students are divided into groups with a ratio ranging from 1:4 to 1:30 accordingly. Faculty is approachable regarding research or any doubts in general. They hear you and try to alleviate the problem. There are atleast three tests per subject throughout the year and one sent up exam before the finals which are generally two papers per subject. For practicals, one day is assigned per subject including viva/ examination according to the subject. Exams are moderate, not too tough and the pass percentage is good. The course follows cbme curriculum that focuses on self directed learning with assessment of a student's competence. It is more systematic and helps in establishing objectives to improve the learning experience.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is MBBS. Name of the course is strong enough to influence the person. The course do prepare the students for real world problems and applications but is very difficult course, very stressful and energy draining. Although the course is very well planned and the curriculum is up to date but there are some areas where improvement is required. Mainly in the exam conduction and checking process, a thorough improvement is required. Rather than descriptive writing there should be more of mcqs so that student can be rewarded on the basis of his knowledge not for hand writing and drawing skills.

The profession of a doctor is a very noble profession. in this profession, you get the opportunity to serve the public. in my college faculties are complete, no need to worry about the faculty-student ratio. all facilities are experts in their field and are well qualified. they have excellent teaching methods. College is conducting exams from time to time and there is a criterion of 50% minimum passing marks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I've always wanted to become a doctor. Every batch consists of 150 students and for every subject, there are at least 4-5 professors. All faculty members are of course doctors with varying degrees of specialization in their respective fields. Their teaching method is through PowerPoint slides for theory classes and practical's are held in respective labs as it happens everywhere else usually. As for now, due to COVID exams being postponed otherwise before the pandemic, exams were held on time. Exams in a medical college are always slightly more difficult than other courses otherwise if you study properly it's not that tough to pass.

There is no such thing as campus placement , it is just that we sign the bond before getting addmission into the college which is to serve in any esic hospital for one year. Every student has to complete the bond else to submit the amount of 5 lac ( current) This amount may change as and when bond is being revised.
