Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

1) The curriculum is similar to Mumbai University. 2) They have their reference books, and often they are the copy version of well-renowned books. 3) At the very end of each subject, projects have been introduced, but the teacher puts little effort into verifying if the student has completed it on his own.

Placement Experience

3

1) The student becomes eligible for the placement from the 7th semester. 2) From this year, the college is only allowing companies with salary packages above 5 LPA. 3) More than 500 students apply for a company's online assessment, and still only 20-30 students get selected for the next round. 4) Up till now, the highest package is 19 LPA (at JP Morgan Chase & Co). 5) According to the past placement campaign, more than 100 companies visited Thakur College of Engineering and Technology, but how much of this information is true, is still not known.

Fees and Financial Aid

1) The year-wise fees I paid at Thakur College of Engineering and Technology is 1,48,500/- Rs. 2) If we separate it based on different categories, the tuition fees will be 1,29,000/- Rs, whereas the development fees will be 19,500/- Rs. 3) The fees differ based on the categories in which the student has enrolled, like for the EBC (Economic Weaker Section), the cost is around 85,000/- Rs; for SC/ST (Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribes), the fee is around 30,000/- Rs. 4) For merit-based admission for my batch was 97.8 percentile in MHTCET examinations. Also, the student must have a family income of less than 8,00,000 (8 Lakhs) per annum. If student satisfies this condition, the his/her fee would be 27,000/- Rs.

Campus Life

4

1) The library has all the required books (with 2 or more copies). 2) The college has a wide variety of committees, from Shastra to Rotaract. All of the committees play different roles and some club expects some amount for registration. 3) There are 2 technical festivals, held in September-October and one in February-March. 4) Each year, the college participates in multiple sports events and even the students are enthusiastic regarding sporting.

Admission

1) In 2020-21, Thakur College of Engineering and Technology had an average package of 8 LPA. Even, the highest was 44 LPA, and that too at Amazon. 2) The college was autonomous, and hence the curricular was easy and sufficient mark can be gained in exams easily. 3) I did not want to wait for the second cutt-of rounds, so I decided to take Thakur College of Engineering and Technology.

Faculty

3

1) At Thakur College, the faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 1:71. This number is balanced, and teachers give adequate attention to the doubts of the students. Faculties are approachable after working time, and some even hold online meetings to resolve the doubts of the students. 2) Most of the teachers are inexperienced or have inadequate knowledge, so they teach only from the presentation, and hence only bookish knowledge is being provided at best.

As on date, the placements from Amity University Mumbai go quite well, and this is also the reason considerate students get placed after having undergone their seventh semester and beginning of eighth semester. All said and done, to everyone's concern in and outside Campus, companies like Google, Microsoft do not regularly visit Campuses
