Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum provides a lot of variability in the subjects taught. I chose this course because of the extensive knowledge given by the course about film making and theatre. There is excellent faculty teaching you about the nuances of this field and is very valid. They prepare you very well for the applications of these pursuits by teaching you everything you need. From lighting to writing, all aspects of mass communication are covered. The curriculum has been made very intelligently and with meticulous planning. There are 2 exams every semester and are of moderate difficulty, depending on the person giving them.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internships offered from various organisations, I know of internships from wildlife photographers from Mumbai for a documentary and news channel over there. It was to do wildlife photography in uttarakhand.

Placement Experience

3.5

Students become eligible for placements in the final year and companies like radio mirchi, red fm, and film and production companies come for placements. 70% of students on average get placed. My plans after getting the degree is to pursue a career involved in mass communication in the field of MMA and boxing broadcasting.

Fees and Financial Aid

The year wise fees is as follows Registration for SET costs Rs.2000 In the first year you pay two installments. 1st installment to be paid at the time of provisional addmission which amounts to Rs.1,73,000 + Rs. 20000 in refundable institute deposit. 2nd instalment also Rs. 1,73,000 Fees will be the same for the next two years, but is also subject to change. There are no said development, lab or such fees. Scholarships are given on the basis of merit, up to 100% There will also be various opportunities for scholarships from outside companies.

Campus Life

4.5

There are multiple events like satrang, vaividhya, and maadhyam held in September and November. Various MUNs are held in the month of December. There is a large trove of books and academic texts available in the library. Classrooms have smart boards and projectors and are also air conditioned. There is excellent opportunity provided to play sports by the university and every year there are SIU games. There are multiple clubs ranging from gaming to journalism, debating, reading, poetry, filmmaking , music, football, volleyball, badminton basketball, rugby etc. they provide students with important enrichment and have a large positive impact on quality of life.

Admission

I started off by applying to IISM for sports management just as a backup as it was the earliest in the year and secured admission after the entrance test. Then I applied to CHRIST college bangalore for mass communication. But I was rejected. I feel it was because my interview didn't go as strongly as I expected. After that I applied to MIT WPU and passed their entrance exam, securing admission. For symbiosis, you are to give SET(Symbiosis Entrance Test) I passed that and then moved on to the next phase which was Personal Interview and Written Test. In written test you are given a prompt relevant to current affairs and are expected to write about it. You are judged on your writing and the selected people move on to personal interview round. I was selected and secured admission in SCMC Pune. I chose it over MIT wpu because of its proximity to my home and because of its higher status as an institution teaching mass communication. All students passing high school are eligible.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty-to-student ratio is approximately 1:60. They pay close attention to you and try their best to help you if you have any problems. They are always available and very approachable. My favourite faculty is Sreeram gopalakrishnan, the director. He provides deep insights and holds very intresting lectures that intrigue the student mind and inspires you to grow. There are two exams per semester of moderate difficulty. There is no negative marking and a mixture of objective and subjective questions. 95% of students pass the exams. The course curriculum is highly relevant to the current market of media and communication and provides multiple paths to acquire good positions.

Interview Experience

4

The topic for my written test was the impact of social media on the recent generation. The people who passed it moved on to interview round. I was prepared for these rounds as I am up to date with the current affairs and decent with interviews.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Quite substandard and below average. Prioritised rote learning over critical thinking. Just a rubber stamp for a degree. No actual education ever took place. Exams were anually or bi annually. Exams were difficult if you cannot write 30 pages in 3 hours.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculam is designed for all round development of the student and to make that person an expert in that field, these aspects influeneced me to choose it. Very well, with extra paper of real world application on each subject it ensures that we take something from the course and become industry ready The teachings methods and cirriculam are excellent I don't think any changes are required Exams are all year round, every month and are extremly difficult to deal with, as Xavier's bar is very high.

Yes, there is no specific place where we get to know that whether the college is open or not on a specific day like the day which has been declared closed by the government. The college doesn’t provide this facility for us. We have to move all towards our home to the college to get this thing.
