Course Curriculum Overview

4

Chemical in VNIT is neither easy nor tough, there are course like Chemical Reaction Engineering 1 and 2 which differentiates other branches with chemical, and passing this course is really tough, you need to work really hard. Chemical is relatively easier than other branches, though core, for placements consulting and Software companies also come. Choosing course may help you learn new stuff for you side hustle and also it is a bit chill so you can choose this course if you are preparing for civil service exams. Changes maybe needed in the teaching area as sometimes the concepts are too difficult and students don't get it properly. There is around 25 to 30 marks in our mid sem, then 20 to 25 in our internals and 50 to 60 in our end sem. End sem plays a huge role for a good grade. Exam diffculty level is moderate depends on professors and also syllabus is a bit vast, pyqs get repeated again depends on professors.

Internships Opportunities

3

Internships are generally difficult to crack for students in chemical branches, higher branches get a good internship oppurtunuties from companies like google and microsoft. Internship getting process: Submit resume if shortlisted there is a test from the company if shortlisted, interview will take place Google gives you stipend of around 50k which opens for branches like cse ece and eee you need to have good cgpa to get into an internships. Students from lower branches also try to getoff campus internships. You can do off campus internships.

Placement Experience

3

Generally internship on campus companies start coming on the start of 3rd year and for placements it starts after 3rd year. Internships are a bit difficult to crack if you are trying on campus. Companies like BPCL and HPCL has visited took students with packages for 16 17 lakhs. highest package offered was 34 lakhs 2023 average package goes to 9lakhs since recession period is taking so companies hiring and salary gone down, but around 70 to 80 % people got placed. ITC take a good amount of students offering a package of 10 to 12 lakhs. they give internship oppurtunities also and give ppo, depending on your performance. Fractal Analaysis, Delloite, Goldmann sachs other companies. My plan is to try for off campus or on campus job in consulting.

Fees and Financial Aid

generally the tuition fees lie around 60k to 65k for our branch and no as such hike is seen for the last two years, maybe a 1000 rupees. The complete cost including hostel and mess fees goes up to 9.5 lakhs, though there are refunds available times you go home and dont avail mess, though you have to pay the full amount for both hostel and mess, you cant choose only hostel. there are many scholarship oppurtunities like for sc and sts and there are scholarship oppurtunities for students income less than 1 lakh, but for that you have to show proper documents for that.

Campus Life

5

During October Central India's largest fest Aarohi takes place, it is a cultural fest that take place for 3 days with many events. We have cultural night and standup night also, last year akash mehta came for our fest. AXIS is our Tech fest take place during feb march for 3 days. Small Events fests seminars are always there taking place every month or so, there is a great fest called Consurtium by the club called Ecell. The library building is huge and there is a great availability fo course books so students dont need to buy them. Fines are there so you need to know every terms and conditions before borrowing books in library. Induction is a fun session takes place for the first years and you get mentors from third years which is a great program in our college. Clubs like Ecell, Samvad, Cycling clubs and many more are there which helps you grow in our college.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel facility is good, there total 10 hostels for both pg and ug students boys, for girls 2 hostels are there. First year boys have hostel intime at 8pm and girls for all years is 10:30 pm and first year 9pm. Mess food quality is average and sometimes goes to below average and provides you meal 4 times lunch dinner breakfast and evening snacks though students prefer outside food. Hostel fees for everyone goes upto 36000 which includes mess, which is quite affordable. You will get refunds if you dont eat in mess and take leave from hostel.

Admission

My rank was 32000 in jee mains and i got chemical branch in csab councilling. There are two councillings Jossa and csab, you got apply for that and they will allot you your branch according to your mains and advance rank. After csab gets over you will get a message from VNIT regarding the admission process and you need to come to campus for the complete admission process. They give dates from which to which date you can visit and also the timings. They take both hostel and mess fees for one semester during the time of admission, and also secuirity deposit which gets refunded. Jee mains take place twice a year so you can sit for both of them. Admission process is very smooth and when you arrive you are alloted your hostel and everything.

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio is good, 1:60 so it's really helpful in this case as they are always available to help us. Not all professors like to entertain student's problems but some professors are really helpful. Even they help us to get research intern in our department itself. We got many PhD scholars in labs and during tutorials who help us and guide us in various aspects. Professors are always approachable during deparment timings and class timings when they are free, but yes it will see disturbing to the professors if you always go up to them for silly things like marks and grades which sometimes happen and this create problems as profs get angry.
